2. In servicing some components, it may be
necessary to remove the gas hose, or control
box cover.
3. For reassembly, reverse the respective
service procedure. Ensure gas connections
are tightened securely.
4. After servicing, light the heater to ensure
proper operation and check for gas leaks.
5. Clean the heater's main orifice with com-
pressed air or a soft, dry rag. Do not use
files, drills, broaches, etc. to clean the orifice
holes. Doing so will enlarge the hole, causing
combustion or ignition problems. Replace the
orifice if it cannot be cleaned properly.

Burner Orifice

1. Remove the retaining clip and carefully
reposition the manifold with orifice holder
from the burner.
2. Remove the orifice as shown in Fig. 20.
3. Clean the orifice using air.

Igniter

■ The igniter/sensor assembly may require cleaning
due to accumulations of dust and dirt over a period of
time, affecting its ability to ignite fuel gas and sense
burner flame. Cleaning will require igniter/sensor
removal.
1. Disconnect the ignition cable from the igniter.
2. Remove the two screws holding the igniter to the
burner. See Fig. 21.
-- Rub the igniter electrode with emery cloth or steel
wool to remove any buildup.
-- Ensure the igniter gap is 3/16 in. Reset the gap if
necesssary, being careful not to crack the igniter's
insulative body. See Fig. 22.
