Cleaning Instructions

It is important to clean the heater on a regular
basis to maintain proper combustion and to
eliminate future problems.
Do not clean the heater with water or
other liquids.
Do not allow the heater to come
in contact with strong cleaning
solutions, chemical substances,
chlorinated chemicals, or any liquid
containing chloride or chlorine. If
these substances contact the heater,
immediately rinse off and dry the
heater.
The frequency of cleaning will vary depending
upon overall ventilation of the building.
Problems associated with lack of cleaning typi-
cally are:
■ Black soot on inside of canopy.
■ Gas burning with very yellow or small flame.
-- Blocked burner orifice or burner
CLEANING WITH BACKPACK
BLOWERS
Use for general cleaning when the heaters do not
have heavy accumulations of dust or dirt.
Follow the same procedures for cleaning as listed
for "Cleaning with Compressed Air".
If the dust and dirt cannot be removed effectively
using the backpack blower, clean the heater
using the Compressed Air cleaning method which
follows.

CLEANING WITH COMPRESSED AIR
1. Turn off the gas supply to the heater and let the
heater cool down.
2. Direct the air at the emitter, working your way
around entire surface of the emitter.
See Fig. 19.
3. Blow air through the main burner holes.
4. Inspect the emitter and burner assembly holes to
ensure no blockages.
5. Return the heater to its normal hanging position
and relight the heater.
CLEANING WITH A BRUSH
Use a soft bristle brush if the emitter's holes cannot
be cleaned effectively using the air method.
1. Turn of the gas and electrical supplies to the
heater and allow the heater to cool down.
2. Using the brush, work your way around the entire
emitter to dislodge any buildup of dirt with the
emitter 's holes. See Fig. 14.
3. When satisfactorily cleaned, use air to blow out
residue.
4. Inspect the emitter and burner assembly holes to
ensure no blockages.
5. Return the heater to its normal hanging
position and relight the heater.
Clean using air or brush:
- Completely around emitter
- Up through burner holes
