WARNING! Render engine start impossible before
work on the propeller is begun. Turn off the main
switch.
NOTE! Use special tool (7) for propeller removal and in-
stallation.
Removal
Lock the propeller shaft before removing the propellers.
This may be done in one of two ways: See figures 1 and 2.
FIG. 1
Undo the six bolts and free the cover (1) from the drive to
release the shift cable from the drive.
Remove the cotter pin (2) from the shift cube (3) to which
the gear shift cable (4) is fastened. Remove the shift
cube and washer (5) from the lever (6) without turning the
cube.
Put the drive in Forward (F) or Astern (R) by hand.
FIG. 2
Place a block of wood between the cavitation plate and
one of the propeller blades.
FIG. 3
Old version propeller cone with locking nut
1.
Unscrew the locknut (1) and remove the propeller
cone (2) and the propeller (3).
2.
Unscrew the large locknut (4) with the aid of the spe-
cial tool (7). Remove the propeller (5).
3.
Wipe the propeller shafts dry and clean.
FIG. 4
New type propeller cone with integrated locking nut
1.
Undo the propeller cone (2) with the integrated lock-
ing nut (2) with the aid of a 27 mm socket. Remove
the propeller (3).
2.
Unscrew the large locking nut (4) with the aid of the
special tool. Remove the propeller (5).

Installation
Brush Volvo Penta propeller shaft grease # 828250 onto
the entire propeller shaft and the inside of the propeller
hub.
FIG. 4
1. Install the propeller (5) and nut (4). Tighten the nut us-
ing the special tool (7).
Tightening torque 200 Nm (148 lbf ft).
NOTE! After the propeller (5) is installed the propeller
shaft must be locked. (Refer to "Removal", figures 1 and
2.)
2. Install the propeller (3) and propeller cone (2). Tighten
the integrated locking nut in the propeller cone using a
27 mm socket.
Tightening torque 100 Nm (74 lbf ft).
NOTE! If the propeller cone is previously used thread
locker must be applied.
3. Install the bolt supplied (6) if there is a thread in the
propeller shaft.
Tightening torque 80 Nm (59 lbf ft).
4. Release propeller shaft locking as follows:
FIG. 1
Put the drive in Neutral (N) by hand using the lever (6).
Fit the shift cable (4) cube (3) in the lever with the washer
(5) and a new cotter pin (2). Bend out the cotter pin legs
carefully. Install the cover (1) on the drive.
FIG. 2
Remove the wood block from between the cavitation plate
and the propeller blade.
