14. MALFUNCTIONS

Malfunctions
The forward operating lever turns freely
on its pin without driving the
mechanism.
Pumping: in forward operation, the
SUPERTIRFOR™ wire rope or the
machine (depending on setup) moves
up and down by a few centimeters with
no progress.
Jerking: Jerked maneuvers in reverse
operation.
Blocking: SUPERTIRFOR™ wire rope
blocked in machine.
The flow regulator is not in the STOP
position and the rams do not operate.
The pressure gauge indicates a
maximum pressure and the rams do not
operate. For an installation with 2 or 4
machines, if one of the machines
exceeds the nominal load, the complete
installation shuts down.
The electric motor stops.
The electric motor starts with difficulty.
Diagnostics
The SUPERTIRFOR™ safety pins*
have sheared under the effect of an
overload.
(*: TU16H = 3 SUPERTIRFOR™ safety
pins).
TU32H = 1 SUPERTIRFOR™ safety
pin).
Insufficient oil in TU32H or TU16H
mechanism.
Same as above.
Damage to portion of SUPERTIRFOR™
wire rope located inside machine.
Electric motor turns backwards:
This could quickly damage the
hydraulic pump.
Insufficient hydraulic oil in tank. An
insufficient quantity of oil can very
quickly damage the hydraulic pump.
Nominal load reached.
Hoses incorrectly coupled to rams.
Motor overheating.
Connection or electrical power supply
problems.

Corrective actions
Replace the SUPERTIRFOR™ pins as
instructed in chapter 10.
By pouring oil into the casing. If
necessary, operate the machine in the
reverse direction over a limited length to
facilitate lubrication of the internal parts
(see §12: Maintenance of machines).
When pumping occurs on a
SUPERTIRFOR™ machine in a multi-
unit application, the load must be
balanced before performing a maneuver
on the SUPERTIRFOR™ machine
which is pumping.
Same as above.
The maneuver must absolutely be
stopped. Secure the load by another means
satisfying the necessary safety requirements
and clear the SUPERTIRFOR™ wire rope
from the machine, disengaging the machine
once the load has been removed. In an
extreme case where this may not be
possible, return the machine and its
SUPERTIRFOR™ wire rope to a
TRACTEL
®
-approved repair agent.
Invert two of the three phases at the
power supply connector (see §4.3.1).
Fill with oil to the top level.
Decrease the load or, at best, balance
the load on all the machines.
Check all the couplings at the ball
valves.
Allow the motor to cool before restarting
it. If the problem occurs again, the
motor must be better ventilated.
Check that the three electrical phases
are correctly connected and correctly
supplied at the worksite electrical meter.
