of a user safety training program that is appropriate for the user's occupation. These instructions must be provided to users before use
of the product and retained for ready reference by the user. The user must read, understand (or have explained), and heed all instructions,

  • Page 4 User Instructions  MSA Rope Termination Plate P/N 10074473 SELECTION AND APPLICATIONS PURPOSE OF ROPE TERMINATION PLATE The Rope Termination Plate is primarily a component of a personal fall arrest system, serving as an anchorage connector. It may also be used for work positioning, travel restriction, rescue, retrieval, evacuation and confined space entry/exit operations, depending on the associated system components used together with the device.

    COMPATIBILITY OF COMPONENTS AND SUBSYSTEMS The MSA Rope Termination Plate is designed to be used with MSA approved components and connecting subsystems. Use of the Rope Termination Plate with products made by others that are not approved in writing by MSA may adversely affect the functional compatibility between system parts and the safety and reliability of the complete system. Connecting subsystems must be suitable for use in the application (e.g. fall arrest, travel restriction, rescue, confined space entry/egress, etc.) MSA produces a complete line of compatible rope lifelines and hardware components...

    Use the MSA Rope Termination Plate with compatible MSA self-closing, self-locking type carabiners only. Do not use with snaphook connectors; the Connecting Element of the plate is not designed as a compatible connection point for snaphooks with a gate strength rated less than 5,000 lbf (22 kN) in all directions of potential loading. Use with MSA carabiners, e.g. MSA Model 506272, SRCC642, or equal.

Excessive accumulation of dirt, paint or other foreign matter may prevent proper function of the device. Questions concerning the condition of your Rope Termination Plate, or if any question arises about putting the equipment into service, consult a qualified safety engineer or contact MSA.

    When using a compatible MSA carabiner to connect the Rope Termination Plate to an anchorage, be certain accidental disengagement (“roll-out”) cannot occur. Follow the instructions provided with the MSA carabiner. Do not make a knot in the lifeline. Do not connect the lifeline back onto itself. Do not attach more than one carabiner to the Rope Termination Plate. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions supplied with each system component.
  • Page 12 User Instructions  MSA Rope Termination Plate P/N 10074473 10.0 INSPECTION 10.1 INSPECTION FREQUENCY The Rope Termination Plate must be inspected by the user before each use and, additionally, by a competent person other than the user at intervals of no more than 6 months. The competent person inspection is referred to as a Formal Inspection and includes documentation of the inspection on a Formal Inspection Log.
