4 Operating and monitoring functions
4.1 Operating functions
This chapter describes all operating functions, including
those that are optional and those that are not available
with every compressor design.
4.1.1
Capacity control and ajustment of the
internal volume ratio (V
The CM-SW-01 continuously adjusts the compressor
capacity according to the set point of the superior con-
troller. With the HS.95, CS.105 and OS.95 com-
pressors, this is done by switching four solenoid valves
CR+, CR-, V
+ and V
-. It automatically adjusts the en-
i
i
ergy-optimised capacity regulation step with appropri-
ate V
for the respective capacity demand. With the
i
OS.85 compressors, the four capacity regulators are
switched in steps.
The compressor module can handle two different set
point characteristics. Before firmware version 2.8.82.00
only 0 .. M
is available. The control signal of the ca-
AX
pacity demand can be transferred via Modbus or at an
analogue input, see chapter Control signal from super-
ior controller, page 52.

Voltage output corresponds to the selected operating voltage.
Select the cable cross-sections in accordance with the local regulations!
Use copper cables with a sheath quality suitable for at least 85°C. Select the
cable quality according to the place of installation, e.g. UV- and/or oil-resistant.

Control range
The compressors can be operated between full load
and the minimum part load. The minimum differs de-
pending on the series and depends on the respective
operating conditions. For the exact data of concrete
partial load points, see BITZER SOFTWARE, approx-
imate rated values including:
• HS.95: 100 .. 25%
• CS.105: 100 .. 25%
• OS.95: 100 .. 25%
• OS.85: 100 .. 50%
In case of FI operation, semi-hermetic compressors
can only be controlled within a very limited range due to
the reduced motor cooling as a result of the reduced
mass flow. For further information on FI operation, see
the online document ST-420 and BITZER SOFTWARE.
Set point characteristic M
The compressor is started as soon as the start com-
mand is given by the superior controller (K01). The
control signal provides linear control of the capacity
control between full load and the minimally possible re-
sidual capacity.
