The compressor is started as soon as the start com-
mand is given by the superior controller (K01) and if a
voltage of at least 0.1 V is applied to the signal input of
compressor module. The control signal is converted dir-
ectly proportionally into a capacity demand. At a control
signal below the minimally possible residual capacity,
the compressor will run at the minimal residual capa-
city.

4.1.2

Unloaded compressor start

When the compressor is shut off, the compressor mod-
ule positions the capacity control slider in a way to en-
sure an unloaded start of the compressor.
In FI operation, the sliders are not completely un-
loaded. This results in the compressor quickly reaching
its application limits even at low speed.
4.1.3
Oil injection and oil return from the
secondary oil separator
During compressor operation, the module opens the
solenoid valve in the oil injection line (M40, HS.95/
12
OS.95) or the solenoid valve in the oil return line from
the secondary oil separator (M41, OS.85).
Oil injection and oil return from the secondary oil separ-
ator are options of the compressor series. If they are
connected, the respective solenoid valve should be
switched via the CM-SW-01.
4.1.4

Oil heater in CS. compressors

The module maintains the oil temperature 20 K above
the refrigerant's saturation temperature. For this pur-
pose, it switches the oil heater on and off even when
the compressor is at standstill, thus increasing the sys-
tem's overall efficiency.
4.1.5
Switching the motor contactors on and off at
compressor start
The compressor module controls the activation and de-
activation times of the motor contactors.
Star-delta motor: The contact at terminal CN2:2 (K1
Control) closes 1 s after the start signal and reopens
after further 2 s. The contact at terminal CN2:1 (K2
Control) closes 1.5 s after the start signal and remains
closed until the compressor is shut off.
Part winding motor: The contact at CN2:2 (K1 Control)
closes 1 s after the start signal. The contact at CN2:1
(K2 Control) closes 0.5 s afterwards. Both contacts re-
12
main closed until the compressor is shut off.
Motor for direct on-line start: The contact at terminal
CN2:2 (K1 Control) closes 1 s after the start signal and
reopens when the compressor is shut off. The contact
at terminal CN2:1 (K2 Control) is not used.
The terminal assignment chosen for the module pre-
vents a short-circuit from occurring if the time relay con-
trol set in the module does not correspond to the motor
used. For setting the time relay control to match the
motor, refer to see chapter Selecting the motor start
function, page 60.
