LINCOLN WAYSIDE LUBRICATOR
85562, 85563, 85564, 85565
Figure 8B. Maintain 1.75" from top of rail, minimum.
9. When the wiper bar is in position, tighten the ½-20 bolts,
item #65. Recheck the alignment of the rear seal, item
#57. The rubber tip, item #59, must contact the gage face
smoothly along its total length. Tighten the ½-20 bolts to a
torque of 45-50 ft-lbs. (Figure 6 and Illustration 4).
10. Tighten the bracket bolts, item #124, to 55-60 ft-lbs, and
the remaining hook bolt nut, item #128, to 75-80 ft-lbs.
(Illustration 11).
11. Recheck the position of the top edge of the wiper bar by
pulling the rubber tip, item #59, back and making sure the
top edge of the bar is even with the gage face, and the
back seal, item #57, is straight and in full contact with the
bottom of the rail head after all fasteners are tightened.
Recheck the minimum clearance from the top of the rail
to the top of the trough, item #61, is no less than 1-3/4".
See ¿ gure 8A. Reinstall the brush, if it was removed, and
tighten the four ¼-20 set screws.
12. Repeat the steps above for each wiper bar to be installed.
Wiper Bar Installation on US Rail Sizes of 115#/
yd. or Less
Use optional mounting hardware kit 274365. (Hardware kit
274365 may be used on larger rail sizes.) (Illustration 11A.)
1. In most systems two wiper bars will be installed on the
gage face of the rail, one on each rail. Mark locations for
the clamp assemblies between rail ties 38" apart. Two
clamp assemblies are required for each wiper bar.
2. Dig out the ballast below each bracket location, at least 4"
deep and 6" wide on both sides of the rail.
3. Prepare the assembly by removing the trough, item #61,
rubber tip, item #59, and brush, item #61 from the wiper
bar assembly. Remove six ¼-20 hex nuts, item #72, and
the trough, brush, and rubber tip can be removed. Attach
the clamp assemblies to the wiper bar using two ½-20 hex
bolts and washers, items #63, #64, & #65, for each clamp.
The bolts should be snug to allow for adjustment.
Note: on very small rail, such as US 90#/yd. rail, it may
be necessary to install a spacer, item #129, between the
wiper bar and "H" section, item #128, to gain the necessary
adjustment range of the clamp assy. Attach one spacer on
each clamp. (See Illustration 4 and 11A.)

4. Place the clamps onto the foot of the rail on the gage face
side of the rail, as shown in ¿ gure 9. Place the hook bolts,
item #123, under the rail, through the clamp cross bar, item
#127, hooking onto the foot of the rail on the opposite side
of the clamp. Secure with ¾-10 nut and washers, items
#123A, #123B, & #123C. Tighten the nuts, item #123C to
75-80 ft-lbs. (See ¿ gure 9).
Figure 9
5. The rear seal, item #57, must be positioned under the head
of the rail (Illustration 4). Position the wiper bar under the
rail head until the front metal edge behind the rubber tip
is aligned with the gage face of the rail. (See ¿ gure 8A).
Adjust the angle of the wiper bar using the two cam angle
adjusters, item #125A, on the right side of each clamp
assembly (see ¿ gure 10). The wiper bar should be posi-
tioned as close to the rail web as possible. After position-
ing, tighten the ½-20 bolts, items #124 & #125, on each
clamp. Torque to 45-50 ft.-lbs. (Illustration 11A.)
