Solar Panel
1. The upper mast support and related fasteners are pack-
aged inside a carton placed inside the reservoir battery
compartment.
2. Refer to Illustration 2 for attachment of the upper mast
support, item #41, using the 3/8" fasteners supplied in the
carton. The mast support is attached to the tank top, item
#232, using the two holes provided on the right side of the
reservoir. Access to the back side can be made through
holes provided in the bottom surface of the tank top. Fas-
ten securely.
3. The lower end of the mast must be buried in the ground.
Lincoln recommends digging a hole, 24-30" deep and
about 10-12" diameter, directly below the mast support
where the reservoir is to be located. The mast should be
set in at least 120# of concrete.
4. Once the mast is set and plum, move the reservoir into po-
sition with the mast support against the mast. Secure the
mast to the reservoir using the mufÀ er style clamp packed
with the mast support, item #44. Tighten securely.
5. Before exposing the solar panel to direct sunlight insulate
one of the terminals on the power lead of the solar panel
with electrical tape to prevent the terminals from touching. .
WARNING: Do not allow the two leads from the solar panel
do not touch each other at any time or damage to the solar
panel may result.
6. See the owner's manual and documents packed with the
solar panel for proper installation of the solar panel. In the
northern hemisphere, the solar panel should be pointed
due south.
7. Attach the water tight connector supplied with the solar
panel to the hole provided in the right side of the reser-
voir. See ¿ gure 18. Connect a volt meter set to read DC
voltage to the two leads of the solar panel. In strong direct
sunlight a voltage of 24 VDC or greater should be read.
8. Attach the RED positive lead to terminal #4 of the solar
regulator, item #25, attached to the controller mounted on
the right side panel, inside the battery compartment. Simi-
larly attach the BLACK negative lead to terminal #3 of the
same regulator.

Purging the Unit of Air
1. Fill the reservoir with grease. The unit can hold 800 LB of
grease, or 110 gallons.
2. With the connection at the reservoir to the supply hose
removed, run the pump by pressing the red manual lube
button on the control panel inside the electrical box (see
Figure 19). In a minute or two the grease will be seen
pumping out of the reservoir outlet ¿ tting.
3. Reattach the grease supply hose and tighten.
4. To purge air from the supply hose, remove the JIC swivel
connection at the Master Block and direct the hose into a
suitable container. Continue to operate the pump by press-
ing the Red Manual Lube button on the face of the control-
ler until lubricant appears from the end of the hose. This
may take 15-20 minutes or more to completely ¿ ll the hose
depending on hose length.
5. Connect the JIC swivel connection back onto the coupling
on the Master Block and tighten. Start the pump again to
purge air from the Master Block and wiper bars. Continue
to run the pump until grease appears at all 12 outlets on
each wiper bar.
