3.2.1
Fitting an insert
NOTICE

Only use the communication unit when an insert has been fitted!
If the radio connector cable is not used (e.g. during practice
exercises or cleaning), fit the dummy insert into the
communication unit.
1. Make sure that the communication unit is switched off.
2. Make sure that the sealing on the insert is not damaged or missing
(see page 5, Fig. D). Slightly lubricate the sealing with silicone
grease if necessary.
3. Fit the insert into the communication unit and screw tight (Allen key
2 mm, torque: 0.3 Nm, see page 5, Fig. E).
3.2.2
Fitting the communication unit onto the full face mask
When the communication unit is to be fitted for the first time:
a. Remove the screw from the connection piece on the full face
mask if necessary.
b. Dismantle the cap and exhalation valve cover from the full face
mask.
c. For full face masks with P connection piece:
Insert the button of the full face mask into the mount for the
communication unit (see page 6, Fig. H).
d. Hook the mount for the communication unit into the visor
frame of the full face mask (see page 6, Fig. K) and fasten it
with the supplied screw (see page 6, Fig. L).
Dräger FPS-COM 7000
When the mount for the communication unit is fitted:
a. Slide the communication unit onto the connection piece
parallel to the edge of the mount and hook it into the visor
frame of the full face mask (see page 6, Fig. M). The
communication unit is fitted correctly when no gap can be
seen between the mount and the communication unit.
b. Switch on the communication unit and check that it is
functioning before it is used.

Preparations before each use

3.3.1
Checking readiness for use
Carry out the following steps at the beginning of the shift:
1. Establish the connection to the radio:
Connect the communication unit with the insert for the radio
connector cable to the radio.
or
Couple the communication unit and the radio (see
chapter 3.3.2 on page 30).
2. Switch on the radio.
3. Switch on the communication unit.
4. Check the voice amplifier unit: The volume of spoken words must
be amplified.
5. Adjust the volume of the radio.

Adjust the volume to a medium level to ensure that an
incoming signal does not cause hearing damage.
