ensure the following (see European Directive 89/656/EEC):
–
the fit must be correct, so that, e.g., proper seating of the seal is
guaranteed,
–
the personal protection equipment must match with any other
personal protection equipment (e.g., protective jacket) worn at the
same time,

the personal protection equipment must be suitable for the
prevailing workplace conditions,
–
the personal protection equipment must conform to the ergonomic
requirements and the health needs of the respective breathing

Fitting the mask / helmet combination and checking
its operability
WARNING
Beards and sideburns in the sealing area of the breathing
connection will cause leaks! Therefore the mask / helmet
combination should not be used by anyone with facial hair of this
sort. Spectacle frames in the sealing area also cause leaks.
Use special mask spectacles.
Pull hair back from the forehead. The forehead must be free from
hair in order for the breathing connection to sit properly.
Fit the helmet and leave the chin strap open
Position the carrier strap around the neck.
Hold both mask / helmet adapters and push the upper edge of the
breathing connection on the forehead below the helmet.
Tension both mask / helmet adapters by pulling them back
simultaneously and hook them into the full face mask fastenings
on the helmet.

Note the corresponding Instructions for Use.
12
Adjust the breathing connection and fasten the chin strap of the
helmet loosely under the chin.
Have someone help you to check the
seating of the breathing connection.
The clamping elements (1) must be
tensioned, otherwise you have to
adjust the hair net in the helmet.
Press the button (2) and insert the
demand valve into the mask connector.
Release the button and check that the
demand valve is properly engaged.
Use thumbs to seal the plug-in nipple
(3) and breathe in to produce a
negative pressure. Hold your breath
for a moment.
The negative pressure should be
maintained. No air from outside must
penetrate the breathing connection.
Seal the plug-in nipple (3) and breathe out forcefully. It must be
possible for the exhaled air to escape without obstruction. If not,
see "Visually inspect the exhalation valve" on page 15.
Connect the positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus
or hose breathing respirator
Check that the demand valve is securely fitted by turning it and
pulling on it forcefully.
Have the tightness and correct connection checked by a second
person.
1)
.
Never use a mask / helmet combination that leaks!
If a lamp holder is fitted to the helmet (Dräger HPS 6100, Dräger
HPS 6200 or Supra F1) and you run into an obstacle, the breathing
connection may become leaky. Leaks reduce the operation time and
cause pollutants to penetrate the mask.
In this case, leave the danger zone immediately.
