REPLACING THE PISTON SEALS
1. Soak all leather packings in piston oil for 5-10
minutes before assembly.
2. Place glands and packings on inverted piston in the
following order and orientation.
A. Support ring 9
B. Alternately blue plastic 6 and leather packings 1.
C. Support ring 10
D. Wipers 11
E. Lock washer 12
NOTE:
The special sealing patch on the outlet valve thread will
suffice for four changes of packing. After four changes of
packing, apply Loctite® to the outlet valve thread.
3. Insert ball 13 into piston rod 8 (Figure 19). If Loctite®
is applied to the piston thread, ensure that the ball
does not come into contact with it.
4. Assemble the outlet valve seat 14 onto the piston rod
8 (Figure 20). Apply 75 +/- 4 Nm torque.
5. Insert packings into cylinders.
6. Alternately stack plastic 6 and leather packings 1.
Note direction.
7. Insert support ring 9 right at the top in the cylinder.

Insert packing nut 3 into cylinder and hand tighten.
WARNING:
Never slide piston assembly into top of sleeve 18 as
this may damage piston packings.

Install O-rings inside cylinder and on sleeve. Slide
sleeve into bottom of cylinder. Replace O-ring if
desired.
Note:
O-ring is not required for safe pump operation.
