of the socket. Keep the connecting
cable away from heat, oil, sharp
edges or moving parts. Damaged or
entangled connecting cables increase
the risk of an electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool out-
doors, use only extension cords
that have been designed for out-
door use. The use of an extension
cord suitable for the outdoors will
reduce the risk of an electric shock.
f) If it is impossible to avoid using the
power tool in a damp environment,
use a residual current device. Use
of an RCD reduces the risk of electric
shock.
3 Personal safety
a) Be careful and ensure that you pay
attention to what you are doing, and
make sure you are using the power
tool sensibly. Do not use a power
tool if you are tired or under the
influence of drugs, alcohol or medi-
cation. A moment of inattention while
operating a power tool may result in
serious personal injury.
b) Wear personal protective equipment
and always wear goggles. Wearing
personal protective equipment such
as a dust mask, non-slip safety shoes,
hard hat, or ear defenders, according
to the type of power tool and the
usage, will reduce the risk of injuries.
c) Avoid switching on accidentally.
Ensure that the power tool is swit-
ched off before connecting it to the
power supply and/or battery pack,
picking it up or carrying the device.
If you have your finger on the switch
when moving the power tool or have
the power tool switched on when con-
necting to the power supply, this may
lead to accidents.

d) Remove any adjusting keys or wren-
ches before turning the power tool
on. A wrench or a key left attached to
a rotating part of the power tool may
cause injury.
e) Avoid unnatural body positions.
Ensure that you have a secure
stance and keep your balance at all
times. This enables better control of
the power tool in the event of unexpec-
ted situations.
f) Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear
loose clothing or jewellery. Keep
hair and clothing away from moving
parts. Loose clothing, jewellery or long
hair may be caught by moving parts.
g) If dust extraction and collection sys-
tems are provided, ensure that they
are connected and used correctly.
Use of dust extraction systems can
reduce dust related hazards.
h) Do not assume a false sense of
security and do not overstep the
safety rules for power tools, even if
you are familiar with the power tool
after many uses. Careless actions
may cause serious injuries within fracti-
ons of a second.
4 Power tool use and care
a) Do not overload your power tool
Use the appropriate power tool for
the task in hand. The correct power
tool will do the job better and safer in
the specified performance range.
b) Do not use the power tool if the
switch is defective. Any power tool
that cannot be switched on or off is
dangerous and must be repaired.
