The blocmat™ TSD shall be anchored on a vertical axis
GB
to the load.
It must be attached through the connector or the fixing
bracket to an anchor point which has a minimum
resistance of 10 kN.
The blocmat™ TSD is equipped with a 20 mm latch
hook on the load side and on the opening structure
side.
Prior to installation of the blocmat™ TSD, ensure
that the braking distance of 700 mm and the
operating speed of 35 m/min. comply with the use
and safety aspects of th working area where the
blocmat™ TSD shall be used.

3. Inspection before use

• No deformation of the housing.
• Visual inspection of the wire rope along its entire
length.
• When wire rope is completely wound on the reel, the
rubber end stop should come into contact with the
housing.
• Check that the wire rope locks correctly by pulling
sharply on the end.
• Check the installation conditions of the blocmat™ TSD,
refer to section 2.
• Check that the shock absorber is not unwound.
• Check the presence of the latch at each end of the
shackle pins.
Before using the blocmat™ TSD, check that the anchor
points to the supporting structure and to the load are
able to withstand a strain of at least 10 kN in the event
of a fall arrest.
Hang the blocmat™ TSD on the structure by the hook,
attach the cable hook to load. When the load moves up
and down, the blocmat™ TSD rope winds and unwinds.
If any slack appears in the wire rope, replace the device
immediately.
If the device locks when it should not, stop the load
moving down and move it up to unlock the system. If the
load arrestor keeps locking when the speed conditions
are respected, then have it checked or replace it.

4. Operation

IMPORTANT
Never let the wire rope move up freely when
releasing the rope hook from the load. Hold the
hook until the rope has been completly rewound
inside the blocmat™ TSD.

5. Storage

The blocmat™ TSD fall arrestor must be stored in a
location sheltered from adverse weather conditions,
and kept at a temperature of between –10°c to + 60°C.

6. Maintenance and repair

The blocmat™ TSD shall be regularly maintained by
the user. In addition to the inspections described in
section 3, the following maintenance operations should
be performed:
• Clean the wire rope with a cloth impregnated with
oil.
• Clean the housing with soapy water.
• It the rope does not rewind, unwind it completly,
check that it is in good condition and rewind it
again.
• It it does not rewind correctly, send the device for
repair.
• It the rope does not unwind when pulled using a
constant force (sticking point., pass over this point
by pulling the rope with a force not exceeding
100 kg, then check the condition of the rope and
rewind it. If the problem persists, send the device
for repair.
7. Precautions in use
Warnings against hazardous operations have been
given in the preceding sections. However, we would
draw your attention to certain operations which are
dangerous:
• Do not use a blocmat™ TSD load arrester as a fall
arrest system for personnel.
• Do not let the wire rope go up before it is completly
rewound.
• Do not use a device which has stopped a fall and
has not been inspected.
• Do not attach the device by any means other than
its anchorage point.
• Do not prevent self alignment of the device in
relation to the rope.
• Do not use the wire rope as a sling.
• Do not open the blocmat™ TSD and do not grease
or oil the mechanism.
