Maintaining the rear wheel-drive
Remove the drive wheels after removing the wheel caps
and after releasing the fixing screw.
- Remove grass and dirt deposits from the entire
internal area of the wheel drive. Note: Do not
remove the free wheel pinion from the gearbox
shaft; instead check, whether it can be easily turned
oposite the drive direction.
- Lightly lubricate the two pinions (free wheel and
plastic pinion) with water-repellent grease which is
compatible with plastic, e.g. STABYL-L-TS - SOLO
Part no. 00 83 175.
- Fill the space inside the drive wheel between both
taper bearings with the same or a compatible
grease.
- Also lubricate the wheel axles with grease.
- When refitting the drive wheel ensure, that both
pinions engage into each other; slightly turn the
wheel on its axle, if required.

Height adjustment

Before storing your lawnmower out of season (but
at least once per year), clean and lubricate the wheel
adjuster spindle.
For this, set the wheel adjuster to its highest position
(max) - clean and lubricate the exposed part of the
spindle with grease - then set the wheel adjuster to its
lowest position (min) - clean and lubricate the remai-
ning spindle with grease.
For this, we also recommend special grease - SOLO part
no. 00 83 175.
Lubricating the Bowden cables
Lubricate the Bowden cables every 10 hours, but at
least once a month, using thin mineral oil.
Note: For perfect function of the drive wheel
it is necessary that the Bowden cable can be
easily operated.
Note: The drive belt (variable gearbox) should be
changed by an authorised service shop. Clean the batte-
ry/gearbox chamber (item 17) at least annually. For this,
remove the lid from the battery/gearbox chamber after
releasing both screws.

Cutting blade

Special tools, such as a torque wrench, are required
for fitting the cutting blade. For safety reasons, ask an
authorised service shop to sharpen, balance and fit your
cutting blade. The following instructions are therefore
for the service shop.
Note: For optimum mowing results, we recommend
to have your cutting blade sharpened/balanced or
replaced at least once per year.
Wear protective gloves when changing the
cutting blade. First remove the spark plug
cap. Only use original spare parts when chan-
ging the cutting blade. The blade designation
must be identical with the part number
specified in the spare parts list.
Never install a third party blade.
To assist you, use a retaining pin to arrest the
blade. Insert this pin from below into the blind hole in
the chassis. The blade fixing screw has a standard right
hand thread. To release this screw, it is recommended
you use a socket spanner (spark plug spanner) or an
internal hexagon key, i.e. 8 mm or 5/16". Re-assemble
the friction clutch in reverse order (Fig. 13) Secure the
blade with the specified torque of 45 Nm (4.5 mkp).
Damaged cutting blades
If, in spite of all caution, the cutting blade impacts
on debris/an obstacle, first shut down the engine and
remove the spark plug cap. When the blade has come
to a complete stop, tip the mower up and check the
blade for possible damage (Fig. 11). Never try and
straighten deformed or bent blades. Immediately re-
place damaged parts. After the cutting blade has struck
an obstacle, ask your local authorised service shop to
inspect the mower. Ensure before taking the machine
into use, that cutting blade and its fasteners are in per-
fect condition. If required, replace such components or
have them inspected by an expert. Never operate with
a blade with is out of balance – this causes vibrations
and can cause serious damage.
Sharpening the cutting blade
Note: The cutting edges may be sharpened with a metal
file. Better results are achieved by sharpening/grinding
the cutting blade in the service shop. The workshop also
ensures that an equal amount is ground off each side of
the blade to ensure it stays balanced. The cutting edge
must only be sharpened up to the designation stamp
(Fig. 14).

Checking the oil level

Please note: The engine oil influences the
performance and service life of your
machine. Never operate the engine without
or with insufficient oil; this causes severe damage to the
engine. Subject to air temperature and height above
sea level, you will find the optimum viscosity in the
type-specific engine operating instructions.
Checking the oil level:
1. Position the lawn mower with all wheels absolutely
horizontal.
2. Unscrew the oil filler cap (item 10) anti-clockwise and
clean the dipstick with a clean cloth.
