Important information
Information for lawn mower 550-RS
with electric start
1. Observe the battery maker's instructions; these are
included with every new machine. Note: The plug
contacts on the red cable of the battery supply are
protected by a sleeve to protect against premature
discharge. Remove this sleeve before connecting
the cable.
2. Charge the battery for 24 hours before starting the
machine for the first time using the battery charger
supplied; the battery may be discharged by
prolonged storage.
3. Never charge the battery using a third party
charger (e.g. for motor cars), otherwise the battery
may be damaged. The battery is located under the
cover, next to the discharge chute of the lawnmo-
wer chassis. Ensure that the charger is connected to
the
battery and not to the engine cable loom,
otherwise the battery charger will be damaged.
4. Frequent starting and stopping can discharge the
battery (deep discharge can damage the battery);
therefore charge the battery as soon as possible
after receipt using the charger supplied.
5. Never store a discharged battery, otherwise it will
sustain permanent damage.
6. Separate the battery from the cable loom, if you
are not going to not use the machine for more
than 14 days.
7. Before storing the machine at the end of the
season, charge the battery once more for 24 hours
using the charger supplied. Do not reconnect the
battery, and store in a cool (not hotter than 23°C),
dry place. Recharge the battery no later than six
months after the previous charge.
8. Before taking the machine back into use at the
start of the season, charge the battery for 24 hours
using the charger supplied.
9. The battery is hermetically sealed and is therefore
maintenance free.
10. Dispose of faulty batteries at licensed sites. Local
battery recycling stations or your retailer will assist
in recycling old batteries. Also observe any locally
applicable requirements.
Assembly
Your lawnmower will be ready for use in only a few
steps. For more practical transport, the support bolts
for the lower handle are not fitted. Position the upper
handle, which is factory-fitted with Bowden cables (incl.
inner cable), in a forward direction on the floor. Posi-
tion the lower handle on the l.h. and r.h. side over the
holes provided in the mower base fitting. Push in the
support bolts into the mower base fitting and the lower
handle (Fig. 1). Note: The lower handle is secured on both
sides with a clamping fixture in the mower base fitting.
- Release the loosely assembled clamping parts by undo-
ing the cap. nuts, - See Fig. 2a initially lightly secure
the clamping parts via the lower handle part. For this,
secure the bowden cable guide hooks, so that they run
along the inside the of the handle.
- Fit the clamping parts on the l.h. and r.h. side flush
with the lawnmower housing, then tighten the cap
nuts. (Fig. 2b).- Then fold the upper handle backwards.
- Set the upper handle onto the lower handle, aligning
the holes in both handle parts.
- Insert the M8 clamping nuts from the inside into the
holes of the lower handle.
- Thread the opened tensioning lever from the outside
through the holes in the upper handle into the handle
clamping nuts, until both handles as tightly locked
together, when the tensioning lever is closed upwards.
If required, either tighten or relax the tensioning lever
by one full turn.
When folding the handle over, relax both tensioning
levers downwards and fold the upper handle forward.
Please note: Ensure that the Bowden cables
(and starter cable, if installed) are not
kinked or damaged anywhere during shipping.
On lawnmowers with self-drive, push the control
bar (B) against the handle, before folding the handle
over, to prevent damaging the spark plug (Fig. 7).
Grass catcher
Hook the loose tabs (left loose for transport reasons)
into the frame (Fig. 4/1). Position the plastic guide onto
the lower frame and push it down, until the guide
clocks into place (Fig. 4).
Inserting the starter handle into the cord guide
Release the engine brake by pushing the brake bar A
against the handle. Position the starter handle into the
cord guide on the upper handle.
Grass Catcher
Please note: Only install/remove the grass
catcher with the engine stopped.
