Operating Instructions
1.
Make sure, that only authorized people have access to
the working area.
2.
Personnel has to be instructed about the applicable
safety instructions and other legally or otherwise
compulsory regulations.
3.1
Working with Media
The utilized media and substances can be hazardous
and may pose dangers that are specific to the
substances and the processes and thus cannot be
described here in detail. Your company should issue
corresponding safety regulations and carefully instruct
the operating personnel.
Recommended basic protection equipment includes
such items as suitable working clothes, gloves,
goggles, and respiratory equipment, if necessary.
3.2
Initial Startup and Normal Operation
1.
Use only units, equipment, accessories, and spare parts
released by the company Sartorius Stedim Biotech
GmbH, for use with the homogenizer.
2.
Check all components for damage, especially glass
components such as jars. Any damaged components
must not be used.
3.
Switch off the unit before installing the holders and
sample tubes. Make sure all parts are attached firmly.
4.
Before starting and during operation, make sure the
sample tubes are positioned firmly in their holders.
Switch off the unit immediately if the sample container
becomes loose during operation.
5.
After stopping the unit, wait until the sample container
or the motor has come to a complete stop before
removing the tube.
3.2.1 Device-specific Information
1.
Mikro-Dismembrator U and S
•
When closing the cover, a safety switch releases the
unit for operation. Never bypass this switch to start the
unit while the cover is open.

Potter S
•
Reduce the plunger pressure or the speed if the
overload indicator is illuminated for an extended
period.
•
Do not touch the plunger rod during operation. Wear
adequate working clothes and head protection. Prevent
hair or clothing from being caught by the rotating
shaft. If necessary, switch off the unit immediately.

Cell Homogenizer MSK
Before starting, make sure the protective cover for the
pulleys at the rear of the unit is closed and secured with
the wing nut. Close the carrier tube carefully. Close the
protective cover at the front of the unit and fasten it
with the clamping lever.
Do not touch the belt, pulley, or the carrier tube when
the unit is active. Wear suitable working clothes and
head protection if necessary. Prevent hair or clothing
from being caught by the belt or the pulley. If
necessary, switch off the unit immediately.
Disconnect the unit from the mains supply before
changing the belt position (e.g., to change the speed).
When operating with CO
Avoid unprotected contact with cold surfaces or liquids.
Risk of injury!
Provide sufficient ventilation to prevent an
accumulation of CO
. Asphyxiation hazard!
