Function and operation

Self-locking

The function of the profile cylinder differs depending on the lock variant ("Release", page 42). The lock-
ing with the locking cylinder is not necessary, nor is it possible. The locking cylinder has an internal stop
collar which prevents it from turning completely.
The key must be pulled out in normal operation.

Release

Escape door function
In general: An escape door always be opened with the door handle from the inside, even if it is locked.
The locked multi-point lock 319 can be unlocked in various ways depending on the lock variant with
E-function, with B-function, with and without escape door function.
Variant with E-function ("E-function (reversing function)", page 34):
Unlocking in the following situations:
· The door handle / panic fitting is operated from inside (escape door function),
· the latch and bolt are retracted from outside with the actuation of the profile cylinder,
Variant with B-function ("B-function (changeover function)", page 33) with escape door function:
Unlocking in the following situations:
· The door handle / panic fitting is operated from inside (escape door function),
· the profile cylinder is actuated from outside, the door can be unlocked with the engaged outer door
handle.
The door remains accessible after it is closed, because the outer door handle remains engaged. The door
handle is disengaged once the profile cylinder is closed in the opposite direction.
Variant with B-function ("B-function (changeover function)", page 33) without escape door function:
Unlocking in the following situations:
· The profile cylinder is actuated, the door can be unlocked with the engaged outer and inner door
handle.
The door remains accessible after it is closed, because the outer door handle remains engaged. The door
handle is disengaged once the profile cylinder is closed in the opposite direction.
The multi-point lock 319 has a mechanical automatic locking function. In the
case of door locks with automatic locking, the closed door is always locked.
Unlocking takes place with a matching key in the locking cylinder.

Functional principle

When the door is closed, the latch bolt (Fig. 4 - 2) extended to the striking
plate is pushed inwards. If the latch bolt is pushed in, then the control latch
(– 1) can also be pushed in. If the door is completely closed, the latch bolt
slides into the latch opening in the locking plate and is thus extended again,
while the control latch remains pushed-in.
If the latch bolt is extended while the control latch is pushed in, the dead-
bolt (– 3) is released and extended by means of a spring mechanism. This
sequence control system prevents the deadbolt from extending when the
door is opened during normal use.
