1. Safety instructions
Important:
Keep this manual with the water separator throughout its entire
service life.
Carefully read this manual before carrying out any installation and
operation of the water separator.
Y
Do not exceed the design limits given on the data plate.
!
All compressed air/nitrogen circuits should include appropri-
ate safety devices according to government and industry stand-
ards. End user is responsible for installing safety devices on the
compressed air/nitrogen circuit.
!
Before starting any maintenance operations, make sure that
the compressed air/nitrogen circuit is not under pressure.
Only use the water separator for separating water from com-
pressed air/nitrogen.
Th e user, through their own analysis and testing, is solely respon-
sible for:
• making the fi nal selection of the appropriate water separator;
• assuring that all user's performance, endurance, maintanence,
safety and warning requirements are met and that the applica-
tion presents no health or safety hazards;
• complying with all existing warning labels and/or providing
all appropriate health and safety warnings on the equipment on
which the water separator is used;
• assuring compliance with all applicable government and indus-
try standards and regulations;
• assuring compliance with this manual.
Tampering, modifi cation or use of any non genuine replacement
parts and/or improper use exonerates the manufacturer from all
responsibility and invalidates the warranty.
Th e manufacturer declines any present or future liability for dam-
age to persons, objects and the water separator, due to negligence
of the operators, non-compliance with all the instructions given in
this manual, and non- application of current government and in-
dustry standards and/or regulations regarding safety of the system
in which the water separator is used.
Th e manufacturer declines any liability for damage due to altera-
tions and/or changes to the packaging, decayed or modifi ed pack-
aging, or improper handling or installation.
It is the responsibility of the user to ensure that a proper conden-
sate drain is selected for use with the water separator and that the
condensate drain is properly maintained to ensure consistent and
complete drainage from the water separator under all conditions.
Th e manufacture declines any liability for damage caused by or
resulting from improper selection, use or maintanence of conden-
sate drains.
When requesting technical assistance or ordering spare parts, al-
ways quote the model number on the data plate mounted exter-
nally on the water separator.
2. Transportation and handling
• Do not store or transport the water separator in an unenclosed
environment.
• Protect the water separator from impact to prevent damage.
• In the event of damage during transportation, handling or in-
English
stallation do not operate the water separator and replace it im-
mediately.
Inspection
As soon as you receive the water separator check its condition; if
you notice any damage inform the carrier immediately, do not
install or operate the water separator and replace it immedi-
ately.
3. Installation
Th e water separator typically is installed on the compressed air/ni-
trogen outlet of aft ercoolers, or any other point where condensate
needs to be separated from compressed air/nitrogen.
• See Fig.1/2 and Table 1/2 for water separator dimensions and
connection sizing.
• Do not install the water separator in an unenclosed environ-
ment. Install in a ventilated area and away from heat sources
and fl ammable materials which ensure an ambient temperature
within the range specifi ed on Table 3 of this manual.
• Support the water separator on suitable mountings to avoid
stressing the inlet and outlet piping.
• Install one or more safety valves as necessary on the com-
pressed air/nitrogen circuit to ensure that maximum pressure
of the water separator, as shown on the data plate and in Table
1/2/3, is never exceeded. Th e user should ensure that installa-
tion of safety valves is in compliance with all applicable gov-
ernment and industry standards and regulations.
• If the compressed air/nitrogen circuit is subject to vibrations or
pulsations, use appropriate vibration and/or pulsation dampers
to connect the water separator to the compressed air/nitrogen
circuit.
Ensure that the compressed air/nitrogen does not contain
contaminating solids or corrosive gases. Take particular care in
or around environments with high levels of sulphur, ammonia,
chlorine and installations in marine environments. For further
advice or assistance consult the manufacturer.
• Care should be taken to prevent accidental contact and burns
when subject to temperatures exceeding 40°C.
• Install the water separator such that the compressed air/nitrogen
fl ows in the direction indicated by the arrows on the water separator.
Th e water separator's inlet and outlet connections are threaded.
See Table 1/2 for connection sizing.
• Install an appropriate condensate drain. When installing a
condensate drain, take care so as to avoid over-insertion of the
water pipe connections into the body of the water separator.
See Fig. 3 for maximum insertion depth.
• Make sure that condensate drains can be visually checked for
correct condensate fl ow and are properly maintained and ensure
that eff ective drainage occurs.
• Th e water separator should not be subject to frequent pressure
cycling exceeding 1000 cycles from 0 to nominal pressure over
the life time of the separator. Consider the use of a compressed
air/nitrogen receiver to help avoid frequent pressure cycling.
ATTENTION
Th e interchangability of head and bodies is only allowed if the
O-ring is replaced with a genuine replacement part from manu-
facturer and the O-ring seats are properly cleaned prior to reas-
sembly. (See Table 4).
