2.2
General safety notes
The manuals for the system and parts thereof as well as the maintenance
records and handover certificates must be kept available near the system.
During installation, operation, maintenance or repair of the system, the regula-
tions for the prevention of accidents, the pertinent DIN and VDE standards and
directives, as well as the directives of the local power supply industry must be
heeded.
In addition, the safety regulations for explosion protection in
technical wastewater systems must be heeded. In hazard areas, e.g.
pumping stations and sewage treatment systems that are subject to
conditions imposed by the accident prevention insurers of the public autho-
rities, units must be installed in an explosion-protected version. Installation,
electrical installation and initial operation may only be carried out by specialist
staff.
Isolate the system.
Make sure that the electrical components are disconnected from
the power supply during work.
WARNING! Live parts
Heed the following points when working on electrical cables and
connections.
▶ VDE 0100 applies for all electrical work on the system.
▶ The system must be supplied through a residual-current-operated protec-
ted device (RCD) with residual current of not more than 30mA.
24
The control unit and the float switch or level control are live and must not be
opened.
It must be ensured that the electric cables as well as all other electrical system
components are in a faultless condition. In case of damage, the system may on
no account be put into operation or must be stopped immediately.
Hazard through overvoltage!
Only operate the system in buildings where there is an overvoltage
conductor (e. g. overvoltage protection device type 2 in accordance
with VDE) installed. Interference voltage can seriously damage
electrical components and lead to system failure.
CAUTION! Hot surfaces!
The drive motor can develop a high temperature during operation.
▶ War protective gloves
Transport risk/system's own weight!
▶ Check the weight of the system/system components in Chap. "3.
▶ T he parts may only be moved and installed by two people exercising due care
and wearing protective equipment (e.g. safety boots).
Contaminated surface!
System and surroundings can be contaminated by germs.
