Use this procedure to start up the line striper and PowrHandler
for daily operation.
1. Check the level of the hydraulic oil in the line striper
hydraulic tank. The hydraulic fluid level should be at the
"Full" mark on the dipstick. Refer to the Maintenance
section of this manual for hydraulic system maintenance
instructions.
2. Start up the line striper using the normal procedure
outlined previously in this manual.
3. Make sure the bleed valve on the line striper is closed.
The PowrHandler system will not operate properly
i
with the bleed valve open or with the pressure
control knob at a minimum pressure setting.
4. Turn the pressure control knob on the line striper
clockwise approximately two turns.
5. Open the hydraulic shut-off valve on the line striper to
activate the hydraulic system.

6. Turn the speed control and power control
counterclockwise approximately one turn.
7. Move the drive lever to the
engaged (back) position.
8. Move the FORWARD/REVERSE
switch to both the FORWARD
and REVERSE positions. The
line striper should move forward
and backward.
9. Adjust the speed control and
power control to achieve a convenient operating speed.
FORWARD/REVERSE
Switch
It is recommended that the operator become
i
familiar with the self-driven operation of this line
striper before actual painting begins. Use water in
the system instead of paint for practice. This
practice time will allow the operator to establish a
comfortable operating speed.
i
It may be necessary to increase or decrease the
PowrDrive speed and power for hills and inclines.
The line striper will continue to move for a short
distance after releasing the FORWARD/REVERSE
switch. Plan ahead and use the brake lever to
avoid causing damage to the line striper and its
surroundings.

Operating the Front Caster

The front caster on the cart is designed to track the sprayer in
either a straight line or allow free motion. Standing behind the
sprayer, the trigger on the left handle of the cart controls the
operation of the front caster.
1. To lock the front caster in the straight line position,
squeeze then release the caster trigger and move the
sprayer forward.
2. To allow free motion of the front caster, squeeze and hold
the caster trigger.

Pressure Relief Procedure

Be sure to follow the pressure relief procedure
when shutting the sprayer down for any purpose,
including servicing or adjusting any part of the
spray system, changing or cleaning spray tips, or
preparing for cleanup.
