► File each cutter with a round file so that the following
points are observed:
– Round file matches the chain pitch.
– File from the inside to the outside of the cutter.
– Hold the file at right angle to the guide bar.
– Maintain the sharpening angle, @ 20.4.
► File down the depth gauges with a flat file so that they are
level with the STIHL filing gauge and parallel to the service
mark. The STIHL filing gauge must match the chain pitch.
► If you have any queries: Contact your STIHL servicing
dealer.

17.3 Chain Brake Maintenance

The chain brake cannot be serviced by the user.
► Have the chain brake serviced by a STIHL servicing
dealer at the following intervals:
80
– Full-time usage: every 3 months
– Part-time usage: every 6 months
– Occasional usage: every 12 months

18 Repairing

18.1 Repairing Chain Saw, Battery and Charger

The saw, guide bar, saw chain, battery and charger are not
user serviceable.
► If the saw, guide bar or saw chain is damaged: Do not use
your saw, guide bar or saw chain, and contact your STIHL
servicing dealer.
► If the battery has a malfunction or is damaged: Replace
the battery.
► If the charger has a malfunction or is damaged: Replace
the charger.
► If the connecting cable has a malfunction or is damaged:
Do not use the charger and have connecting cable
replaced by a STIHL servicing dealer.
