Typical installation
In order to reduce head loss, provide installation (fig. 8) with a short suction pipe (max. 8 ÷ 10 m) with a diameter not smaller than the pump
inlet diameter. Generally the difference in height between the pump and the surface of the pumped liquid should not exceed 4 to 6 m using the
pump at the best efficiency point. In any case, the value resulting from the height of suction added to the head losses of the suction complex
must satisfy the NPSH required by the pump.

Hydraulic connection
Before proceeding with the hydraulic connection, be sure that:
- The suction pipe is absolutely free from air infiltration.
- The suction pipe is fitted with a footvalve with a properly sized filter protected against obstruction by any particles suspended in the water.
Action
Sink the filter so that:
- The distance from the walls of the basin is at least 0.5 m.
- The upper part of the filter is at least 0,5 m below the minimum
water level when in function.
- Lower part stay at least 0,5 m from the bottom of the basin.
Proceed with the installation of:
- A pressure gauge "A" on the delivery pipe without any other
appliance.
- A non-return valve "B".
- A properly dimensioned gate valve "C" after the non-return valve.
Connect a metal or plastic pipe to the hole (Ø 3/8"GAS) of the proper
collecting water tank (eventually through appropriate threaded
connections).
Direct the pipe to a proper drainage point so that the water does not
fall on the ground or on the motor.
The suction and delivery pipes should have no tight elbows, several bends close to one another, or sudden diameter va-
riations and must be supported by fixing brackets to bear their weight. The draining hole must be checked constantly to
prevent clogging by lubricating substances coming out from the stuffing box packing as an effect of the rotation.

Note
Gate valve "C" must be properly dimensioned to avoid choking and
to allow inspection for cleaning and maintenance without emptying.
Pumps with stuffing box packing are equipped with an apposite tank
to collect the drips.
