10. FILLING, START-UP AND STOPPING
NB: IT IS FORBIDDEN FOR USE THE PRESSURE EQUIPMENT TO BE USED BY PERSONNEL WITHOUT
APPROPRIATE TRAINING
Foreword
Before use, it is necessary to analyse used fluid, checking their compatibility with the materials used
for the EXCHANGER. The use of incompatible materials can lead to corrosion of the materials
constituting the device
consequent malfunctions.
Precautions must be taken in order to avoid the accumulation of electrostatic charges (CENELEC
Report R044-001). All the metal parts of the pressure equipment must be connected between them
and earthed.
In starting and stopping the equipment, it is essential that the equipment be properly connected,
where required by regulations in force, to the safety and control devices of the system. This
activity is in charge to installer.
Filling
Fill the fluid circuits tube side and shell side completely, first the coldest.
Only after eliminating all remaining air pockets, close the relief valves.
Start-up
After carrying out the procedures above for filling:
Verify that all piping valves are open;
Gradually increase the temperature and pressure of the unit within the limits indicated on the
nameplate;
Stopping
When stopping, follow the steps below:
Keep the fluids circulating both side;
Switch off first hot side (temperature/pressure within the limits indicated on the nameplate);
Then switch off cold side (temperature/pressure within the limits indicated on the nameplate);
NB: For different temperature ranges on both sides from those in the nameplate, consult the
manufacturer.
