8.D FONCTIONS «EQ» INTRODUCTION
The advantage of smart speakers, such as CAPELLA, is to take into account: the physical and technical
capabilities of the speaker / The environment / Your personal tastes to adjust each parameter and best
adapt to the acoustic research of the speaker. 'listener.
A true revolution in the world of audio, results impossible to obtain with a traditional speaker, taking into
account your listening room is an important element for your system.
Room correction, called "Room Eq", can signi-
ficantly improve your listening conditions. The
characteristics of your room considerably influence
listening, the Stereo Hub provided with your Ca-
pella speakers allows you to correct this by fol-
lowing the procedure in the Capella application.
The processing will focus mainly on the bass
frequencies and particularly on the room modes,
thus offering Capella speakers a serious advan-
tage over traditional speakers, where this type of
processing is impossible. The placement of your
speakers will thus be taken into account and the
correction carried out according to two basic crite-
ria, namely the stopping frequency of the speaker
in low frequencies (response at -6dB/Oct), then a
small additional correction or reduction in the bass
level depending on the size of your room and its
ability to absorb bass frequencies.
This type of correction is a revolution in terms
of signal processing, each element is controlled
and does not exceed any limit to preserve it. The
placement of your speakers is regularly a problem,
the Room Eq is a real solution to this problem.
A microphone will therefore be necessary, but a
simple iPhone can very well perform this type of
operation, an operation however impossible with
the multitude of models available under Android.
It is therefore recommended to have the ZEN mi-
crophone to take optimal sound recordings.
The principle is therefore to first treat the mode
phenomena specific to a room, when acoustic
pressure is applied. Depending on where you are
in the room, specific frequencies are affected. The
placement of your speakers near a wall is also a
factor to consider affecting the level of bass deli-
vered. Low frequencies are reflected by the parti-
tion and returned to the listener.
Taking measurements at different points therefore
allows you to cover the entire room and correct
most of these problems.
All of this data is sent and then processed by your
Smartphone based on powerful mathematical and
analysis tools, in just a few seconds. The calcu-
lated data is then sent to the Stereo Hub's DSP
and then output to the Capella speakers.
