6.3.1 Manual cleaning and disinfecting
1. Remove the air supply unit, clean and disinfect separately.
2. Unfasten the protective cap, the valve disc on the suit
valve and the cover strap on the air supply unit (if
present).
3. Remove gloves, if applicable:
– If the chemical protective suit is equipped with a glove
combination, the glove combination must be removed
and disposed.
– If Tricotril overgloves are used, remove but do not
wash them. Contaminated Tricotril overgloves must be
replaced.
– FKM and FKM/butyl gloves can remain on the suit
during manual cleaning.
WARNING
Risk of contamination!
No assurance has been made that the material will be able to
withstand repeated chemical exposure.
► Replace glove combinations.
4. Clean the valve disc separately with clean, warm water.
5. Prepare a cleaning solution consisting of water and a
cleaning agent.
6. Clean the chemical protective suit and all reusable
components with a soft cloth and a cleaning solution.
7. Thoroughly rinse all parts under running water.
8. Prepare a disinfectant bath consisting of water and a
disinfectant.
9. Place all parts to be disinfected into the disinfectant bath.
10. Thoroughly rinse all parts under running water.
11. Dry all parts. For further information see: "Drying the
chemical protective suit", page 31.
6.3.2 Mechanical cleaning and disinfecting
The following accessories are required for mechanical
cleaning:
– Industrial washing machine Dräger CombiClean or
equivalent
– Washing agent: Eltra (for dosage refer to Information
9021380), neodisher Dekonta AF
– Washbag (for chemical protective suits with full face mask)
The industrial washing machine must have the following
features:
– Drum volume >130 litres
– Drum diameter >60cm
– Door opening >37cm
– Programmable logic controller
– Electronic temperature control ±2°C
– Drum speed: maximum 20 rotations/minute
(2 slow rotations in one direction, 18 seconds waiting time,
2 slow rotations in the other direction, 18 seconds waiting
time)
Clean and disinfect the chemical protective suit as follows:
1) not part of the EU prototype tests

1. Remove the ventilation unit, clean and disinfect
separately.
Then rinse thoroughly in clean water.
2. Unfasten the protective cap and valve disc on the suit
valve, as well as the cover strap on the ventilation unit,
where applicable.
3. Remove the gloves if necessary:
– If the chemical protective suit is equipped with a glove
combination, the glove combination must be removed
and disposed.
– If Tricotril overgloves are used, remove but do not
wash them. Contaminated Tricotril overgloves must be
replaced.
– Remove FKM/butyl gloves.
WARNING
Risk of contamination!
No assurance has been made that the material will be able to
withstand repeated chemical exposure.
► Replace glove combinations.
4. Clean the valve discs separately with clean, warm water
and then disinfect.
5. Open the fastener system on the chemical protective suit
completely.
6. Spread out the chemical protective suit on a clean working
surface and smooth out wrinkles.
7. With permanently fitted full face mask:
a. Pull the washing bag over the hood so that the
washing bag foam is on the full face mask visor.
b. Tighten and tie the cord.
8. Turn up the socks or safety boots twice. Avoid sharp
bends.
9. Place the sleeves into the centre of the chest section.
Smooth out any creases.
10. Fold the hood and the upper section of the chemical
protective suit in such a way that they are positioned on
the rolled-up safety boots. Smooth out any creases.
11. Place chemical protection suit in industrial washing
machine.
CAUTION
Danger of material damage!
The chemical protective suit may be damaged.
► The wash drum may only move if it is filled with water.
12. Start the washing program "Chemical protective suit".
Observe the following parameters during washing:
– Water temperature for cleaning and disinfecting:
Eltra: 62 °C ±2 °C, neodisher Dekonta AF: 50 °C to
55 °C
– Contact time:
Eltra: 20 min., neodisher Dekonta AF: 5 min.
– 4 rinsing cycles with clear, warm water
13. Dry all parts. For further information see: "Drying the

6.3.3 Drying the chemical protective suit
CAUTION

The chemical protective suit may be damaged.
► Do not spin dry the chemical protective suit.
