15. Close the cover strap on the fastener system.
16. Pull the suit material up in front of the body, and down
behind the body. This is ensured when the breathing
apparatus is fitted.
17. Put on the breathing apparatus.
18. Check the correct functioning of the breathing apparatus.
19. If the air supply unit is being used, connect the air supply
to the air supply unit.
20. Fit the overgloves if required:
a. Pull the Tricotril overglove over the arm ring and
secure it with the corresponding rubber ring.
21. Put on the safety helmet where applicable.
In chemical protective suits with face cuffs the leak test
as described in steps 11 to 13 should not be regarded as a
reliable indication that the suit will fulfil its function in the
same way when worn by somebody else. For maximum
protection Dräger recommends checking the fit
individually for each wearer.

Observe during use
CAUTION
Danger to health!
A build-up of heat in the chemical protective suit can cause a
circulatory collapse.
► If necessary, wear a cooling vest underneath or use a
suitable ventilation system.
When working at low temperatures, Dräger recommends
using FKM/IIR gloves or, alternatively, the laminate/IIR
combination, as they offer greater cold flexibility.
– Never start a mission alone!
– Observe the period of use, operation limits and specific
national regulations. The maximum usage period may also
depend on the respiratory protective device used and on
the operating conditions.
– When working with cryogenic media, use suitable
overgloves (e.g., Cryo-LNG™ from Tempshield, Inc.) and
1)
underclothing.
– In case of emergency, leave the contaminated area
immediately. Open fastener system in clean area only.

After use
4.5.1 Precleaning the chemical protective suit
WARNING
Death or danger of severe injury!
Failure to meet the required safety precautions may result in
death or serious injury.
► Never touch contaminated parts unless wearing protective
clothing.
► Avoid contaminating the clean interior of the suit.
CAUTION
Danger of contamination!
Contamination may occur during precleaning. Chemicals may
permeate into the suit.
► If precleaning is not possible on site, remove and close the
chemical protective suit immediately.

Instructions for use

Dräger CPS 7800
1. Leave the contaminated area and have the chemical
protective suit precleaned with the aid of a helper. The
helper must also wear protective clothing, and breathing
apparatus where necessary. For precleaning, Dräger
recommends using plenty of water to which a detergent
has been added. This will sufficiently wash away most
chemicals (acids, alkalis, and organic and inorganic
substances).
2. Clean the chemical protective suit thoroughly for a
sufficient time. Avoid spreading chemicals.
3. In the event of contamination with hazardous substances,
dispose of the waste water in line with the relevant waste
water disposal regulations.
4. If necessary, carry out decontamination in several steps.

4.5.2 Removing the chemical protective suit
WARNING
Danger of contamination!
► Only take off the chemical protective suit in a non-
contaminated area.
CAUTION
Danger of injury!
For chemical protective suits with face cuffs, liquid splashes
or aerosol sprays may occur and may penetrate between the
full face mask and face cuff.
► Bend the head forward, remove the full face mask, and
wipe down the face cuff without letting any chemicals get
into the face area.
1. Remove the safety helmet where applicable.
2. If the chemical protective suit is equipped with an air
supply unit, have the air supply disconnected by a second
person.
3. Disconnect the breathing apparatus from the full face
mask, and set down.
4. Unfasten the straps on the full face mask:
Insert a finger underneath the straps on the neckband and
push the adjusting buckles forwards using your thumb.
5. If the chemical protective suit is equipped with an
integrated full face mask:
a. Open the cover strap.
b. Open the fastener system.
Always pull in the direction of the zip. Do not use force.
c. Remove the hood and mask back over the head.
d. After this point, take out the right arm, then the left arm
from the sleeves.
6. If the chemical protective suit is equipped with a face cuff:
a. Remove the full face mask.
b. Open the cover strap.
c. Open the fastener system.
Always pull in the direction of the zip. Do not use force.
d. Take your head out of the head part.
e. After this point, take out the right arm, then the left arm
from the sleeves.
7. If the chemical protective suit is fitted with braces, remove
the braces.
