Sticks
Ski poles or trekking sticks make snow-hiking eas-
ier. They assist with balance, thereby promoting
stability. Use poles or sticks with large plates to
minimize sinking into the snow.
Hiking techniques
Note
For the step-by-step and duck-step tech-
nique the climbing stirrup can alleviate
walking in ascending terrain. Simply fold
the climbing stirrup up when needed. In
even terrain, simply fold it down again.
Step-by-Step (Normal walking) (Fig. J)
In even terrain, gently sloping up or down. Step
evenly and place feet parallel to each other. The
width of the steps are determined by the width of
the shoes.
Duck-Step (Fig. K)
This step technique is similar to the ski-step and is
to be applied in ascending terrain to avoid step-
ping on your own shoes. Ensure that you step in a
stable way with each step so that the snowshoes
can grip properly.
Kick-Step (stair-step) (Fig. L)
With the kick-step, the so-called side-step tech-
nique, you climb sideways at a right angle in
very steep terrain. Keep your body as upright as
possible when doing so. Step firmly. Target your
goal directly (e.g. the mountain summit).
Line-Step (Fig. M)
You can apply this technique to climb a peak in a
serpentine fashion.
To do this, place your feet, one in front of the
other, parallel to the incline. To save energy,
lengthen the s-curves.
Environment
Hunting and foraging for food is particularly dif-
ficult and depleting for animals during the winter
months when the winter fun begins for us during
the winter sporting season.

GB/IE
Please follow these guidelines:
- Avoid routes through forest reserves
and game reserves.
- Remain on the marked routes when
hiking through forests.
- Dogs must be kept on a leash, especial-
ly in forests, to protect wild animals.
- Avoid the edge of forests and snow-
free areas as wild animals could be
present.
Storage, cleaning
Do not use any abrasive or acidic products for
cleaning, i.e. hard brushes etc.
Clean the snowshoes with lukewarm water after
use. Let them dry out well before storing them. Do
not let them dry on heaters!
Store the item in a cool, dry place in the carry.
Protect the snowshoes form direct sunlight. Sun-
light may cause the plastic to become fragile and
brittle, or bleach the item.
Carry-bag:
Disposal
Dispose of the article and the packaging materi-
als in accordance with current local regulations.
Packaging materials such as foil bags are not
suitable to be given to children. Keep the packa-
ging materials out of the reach of children.
Dispose of the products and the
packaging in an environmentally
friendly manner.
The recycling code is used to identify
various materials for recycling. The code
consists of the recycling symbol – which is meant
to reflect the recycling cycle – and a number
which identifies the material.
