ENGINE OPERATION
Note
Confirm that the reverse lock lever is at
"LOCK" position before running your motor.

Severe damage, and personal injury, may
occur if shifting at high engine speed.
Engine must be in the slow idle position
before shifting is attempted.

Forward
Turn the throttle grip to reduce engine
speed. When the engine reaches trolling
(or idling) speed, quickly pull the shift lever
to the Forward position.
Reverse
Reduce engine speed, when the engine
reaches trolling (or idling) speed, quickly
push the shift lever to the Reverse posi-
tion.
WARNING
Before shifting, make sure that no swim-
mer(s) or obstacle(s) is ahead or astern of
the boat.
CAUTION
 Before
moving
Reverse, make sure the Reverse Lock is
engaged (in up position).

 Do not increase the engine speed
unnecessarily while reversing.
 The Shift Lever cannot be turned from
Neutral to Reverse unless the throttle
grip has been turned fully toward
"SLOW".
