⇒ Insert the largest Allen key into the bore hole in the heater car-
tridge and unscrew the heatbreak
⇒ Then unscrew the nozzle, countering it again with the Allen key
11.4.1 Attaching the nozzle
⇒ Screw in the new nozzle and heatbreak, countering it again
with the Allen key
⇒ Clean the heatbreak and lubricate it with a conductive paste
(see scope of delivery).
Recommended:
• Halnziye HY810 paste
- Thermal conductivity:
- Thermal resistance:
- Operating temperature:
⇒ Slide the nozzle unit into the heatsink from underneath and
tighten the two screws again
⇒ For the rest of the assembly, proceed in reverse order as previously described.
11.5
Applying a new Kapton film
The Kapton film of the print bed wears out over time or can be damaged by the nozzle due to in-
correct calibration or removal of the printed models.
Replacing the Kapton film is important to maximize print quality when the old Kapton film has problems or
is damaged
⇒ Select the AXES
⇒ Move the print bed into a position that facilitates removal of the build plate.
⇒ Fold the two metal clasps on the front of the print bed to the side.
⇒ Lift the build plate slightly at the front and pull it forwards out of the rear metal clasps
⇒ Remove the old Kapton film by peeling it off the glass plate.
⇒ Clean the surface of the build plate with acetone
⇒ Remove the plastic protective film (save for future use) from the sticky side of the new Kapton film.
⇒ Apply a little window cleaning fluid to the build plate and to the sticky side of the Kapton film so that you
can position the Kapton film properly on the build plate.
⇒ Place the Kapton film on the build plate so that the distance to the opposite sides is approximately the
same
⇒ Once the positioning is correct, place the protective film (removed at the beginning) on t he new Kapton
film to avoid scratches and damage during the following operation.
⇒ Squeeze out the excess liquid between the build plate and the Kapton film with a thin but firm object
(e.g., with a used credit card).
⇒ Start in the center of the build plate and move horizontally and vertically Once all the liquid has been
squeezed out and the Kapton film has been properly applied, set the build plate aside to dry.
⇒ Leave the build plate with the new Kapton film for a day before use.
⇒ Cut off any overhanging film flush using a knife.
To insert the build plate into the print bed:
⇒ Place the build plate on the print bed
⇒ Slide the build plate towards the back into the metal clasps
⇒ Close the two metal clasps on the front of the print bed
