Use
4.3
Before every use
Mask/helmet combination: Adjust the full face mask fastener and the internal
helmet components.
WARNING
Danger of poisoning!
Extreme head shapes can lead to incompatibilities or leakages.
► To ensure leak tightness of the full face mask, the full face mask fastener
and internal helmet components must be precisely adjusted.
1. If required, fit the mask spectacles.
2. Loosen the head harness as far as possible.
3. If required, place the carrying strap around your neck and, if necessary,
fasten it in the standby position (see figure B on fold-out page).
4.4
Putting on the facepiece
At extremely low temperatures, fogging of the mask can be reduced by the
wearer inhaling or briefly holding his breath when the mask is put on.
4.4.1
Putting on the full face mask
1. If necessary, release the full face mask from the standby position.
2. Pull the head harness apart and place your chin into the chin cup (see
figure C on fold-out page).
3. Pull the head harness over your head and draw it backwards.
4. Position the full face mask.
5. Pull the straps until evenly tightened; first the neck straps, then the temple
straps, finally the front strap (see figure D on fold-out page).
4.4.2
Putting on the mask/helmet combination
1. Prepare the helmet for use.
2. Put on the helmet. Leave the chin strap open while putting on the helmet.
3. Take hold of both mask/helmet adapters, then place the upper edge of the
full face mask against your forehead.
4. Put your chin in the chin cup of the mask.
16
5. Pull both mask/helmet adapters simultaneously backwards and clip them
into the helmet adapter pockets.
6. Position the full face mask.
The entire face seal must lie flush against the head.
7. Push the mask under the front strap of the helmet or under the flame/heat
barrier, if necessary.
8. Fasten the chin strap on the helmet.
9. Check that the helmet fits your head securely.
10. If necessary, tighten the chin strap again.
11. Have a second person check the correct fit of the mask.
The mask/helmet adapters must be pulled tight, otherwise adjust the
position of the fastening plates at the helmet.
4.5
Check the seal
WARNING
Danger of poisoning!
► Use only with tight facepiece.
4.5.1
Mask with P-type connector
1. Insert the lung demand valve into the connector.
2. To check that it fits tightly, twist and pull the lung demand valve.
Have a second person check the tightness and correct connection.
3. Close the medium-pressure hose with your thumb.
4. Inhale and hold your breath.
There must be no noticeable air ingress, otherwise check the mask fit.
The exhaled air must be able to escape without obstruction through the
exhalation valve.
5. Repeat the seal test twice.
6. Connect the self-contained open-circuit breathing apparatus or airline
equipment.
