Filter jug
Laica water filtration system is projected and manufactured to treat drinking water.
It improves the taste of the water through the reduction of chlorine and disinfection
by-products. All Laica filter cartridges are made in Italy and processed by sterilization.
Laica filter cartridges contain silver-impregnated active carbon and ion exchange resins.
Active carbons are effective for the reduction of chlorine and disinfection by-products.
Ion exchange resins are effective for the reduction of heavy metals whenever present in
drinking water. For information on your tap water, contact Municipalities.
CAUTION: Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality
(check with the competent authority in your area).

PREPARATION OF THE FILTER CARTRIDGE
1) Before proceeding with the following operations wash hands thoroughly.
2) Remove the cartridge from the bag (fig.A).
3) Soak the cartridge in a container full of cold water for approximately 15 minutes
(fig.B). Shake the cartridge to release the air it contains.
4) Insert the cartridge into the hopper pressing slightly to ensure correct insertion
(fig.C).
5) Fill the hopper with cold mains water up to the top level of the same and allow
filtering without closing the lid (fig.D).
6) Discard the water filtered in the previous section (or use it to water your plants).
7) Repeat this operation (sections 5 and 6) 3 times.

electronic indicator (fig.1a). Insert the lid and immediately filter 1 litre*: 3
consecutive flashes of the same bars confirm activation of the electronic
indicator. The electronic indicator indicates that the total filtering capacity
is 75% (fig.1b). The electronic indicator indicates that the total filtering capacity is
25% (fig.1c). When it is time to replace the cartridge, the following symbol appears
on the display: " " (fig.1d).
* For models BIG (XXL) the hopper capacity is 1,5lt.
Replacement of replaceable electronic indicator:
For the replacement remove the electronic indicator lifting the lever positioned on the
upper part of the same and extract it from its housing (fig.L).
2
Water filter with removable trapezoidal electronic indicator
Remove the lid from the jug and check that the magnet is on the
underside of the lid (see fig.G). Turning the lid over, remove the
electronic indicator onto the back of your hand with a smart tap (see
fig.H). Press the "O/I" key for a few seconds until the 4 black bars,
each of which corresponds to a period of one week, stabilise on the electronic
indicator (fig.2a). Insert the electronic indicator into the lid: 3 consecutive flashes of
the same bars confirm activation of the electronic indicator. The electronic indicator
indicates that the total filtering capacity is 75% (fig.2b). The electronic indicator
indicates that the total filtering capacity is 25% (fig.2c). When it is time to replace
the cartridge, the following symbol appears on the display: " " (fig.2d).
3
Water filter with non-removable manual indicator
Turn the cartridge replacement indicator located on the back of the lid
in a clockwise direction as indicated in figure 3b in order to set the use
start month for the cartridge. The month of reference must be aligned
with the arrow printed on the lid.
4
Water filter with non-removable manual trapezoidal indicator
Turn the cartridge replacement indicator located in the upper part of
the lid in a clockwise direction in order to set the start month for the
cartridge (figure 4b).
5
Water filter with removable round manual indicator
Remove the lid from the pitcher, turn it upside down and slightly push
the manual indicator on its backside, in order to partially extract it from
t h e
lid (fig.5b and fig.5c). Turn the upper lens of the indicator clockwise as
indicated in fig.6c, to set the start month and week for the cartridge (fig.M). The month
and week of reference must be aligned with the red sign printed on the upper lens of
the indicator. Insert the manual indicator into the lid by pushing as per fig.5d.
BATTERY INSERTION/REPLACEMENT
For jugs with removable rectangular electronic indicator and removable trapezoidal
electronic indicator it is possible to replace the battery. Check for the presence of
the battery compartment lid on the bottom of the indicator (see fig.I). The electronic
indicator works with a 1.5V LR44 type alkaline battery. Replace the battery when the
numbers or the bars on the display are not perfectly legible. Make sure your hands are
dry when you perform this operation.
1) Open the battery compartment located on the bottom of the appliance by unscrewing
the lid counter-clockwise. Facilitate this action by using a small coin.
2) Remove the flat battery.
3) Insert the new battery ensuring correct positioning of the polarities (positive pole
facing upwards).
4) Replace the lid on the battery compartment. During this operation, be sure to
correctly position the sealing gasket in the event it has been moved or removed
during opening of the lid and removal of the batteries (Fig. I).
5) Close the lid by screwing it with a small coin clockwise.
Remove the battery where the appliance is not being used for long periods of time.
Remove the battery as described in sections 1 and 2. Remove the battery and dispose
of as special waste at suitable collection points for recycling. For further information
concerning the disposal of batteries contact the shop where the appliance containing
batteries was purchased, the local council or the local waste disposal service.
