5. FITTING
POSITIONING THE PLATES
Position the XPAND on the vehicle in order to adhere to the dimensions imposed by regulation R58-03 - Figure 1:
• Height of the bar above the ground (unladen vehicle): G
• P max. depending on the bar (see table 2).
SIDE RAIL FITTING CONDITIONS (welded or bolted on)
5.1 Welded fitting:
If the chassis manufacturer's bodywork fitting instructions allows, a qualified operator can weld the plates Nos.
1 & 2 (see section 1 – Contents of the kit) onto the side rails or chassis.
For this purpose, the following weld beads are required:
2 vertical beads, min. 170 mm, and 1 horizontal bead, min. 230 mm, with min. 5 mm weld cross-section.
Note: The horizontal weld bead must not interfere with the installation of the bracket. It is preferable to weld
in the upper section of the plate.
5.2 Screwed fitting according to drilling diagram Figure 3:
1.
Use at least 12 X M14 min. class 10.9 screws (at least 10 screws on the side rail + 2 screws on the
brackets) per plate: (screw kit ref. 294544201 optional)
Tightening torque: C = 200 Nm ± 10%.
Generally
*10 x Ø15
X = 50 min.
Y = 100 min.
Z = See the manufacturer's instructions for the vehicle to be
equipped
*
Note = M16 Class 10.9 screws can be used. In that case, the plates must be drilled and the brackets countersunk to Ø17 mm
2.
Drill the side rail and the plates with a diameter of ∅15+0.5
3.
Attach each plate to the side rail using 10 screws minimum 10.9 (C = 200Nm ±10%) – not supplied.
* The height of the plates can be shortened.
Trimming permitted
Case for 40< pitch <50
X = 40
Y = 95 min.
Fitting plates,

A backplate up to 15 mm thick can be
used between the side rail and the plate.
The backplates are included in the width
of the assembly frame (see figure 2).

Position the holes so that
the bracket is in contact
with the side rail
