4. Safety instructions
4.1 General
Attention! Read all safety notices and
instructions!
• Store the operating instructions in a safe place.
• Use the machine only as intended. Doing work
that the machine was not designed for can result
in injury to persons or damage.
• Ignored instructions and notes or negligent
compliance with these can result in electric shock,
fire and/or serious injury.
• This machine may not be used by people who
suffer from physical/mental disabilities or cognitive
disorders or who lack the necessary experience
in dealing with such equipment. Do not allow
children to use the machine!
• Store the machine out of the reach of children.
• Never allow people who have not read the oper-
ating instructions to use the machine.
• Have broken equipment fixed only by the
MENZER service department.
4.2 Safety instructions specific to the machine
• The machine may only be connected to power
sockets whose mains voltage and frequency
match the rating indicated on the nameplate of the
machine.
• Make sure that all operating controls are func-
tioning before starting work.
• Do not operate the machine when the cable, the
housing parts or other components of the equip-
ment are damaged.
• Make sure that it is not possible to unintention-
ally turn on the sander before connecting the
machine to a power outlet to avoid accidents.
• If the device turns off unintentionally, please turn
the on/off switch to position 0 and pull the mains
plug out of the outlet. Please consult Section 7 –
Troubleshooting and fault corretion, and/or contact
MENZER Service.
• Always use both hands to hold the machine,
otherwise you can lose control of the tool and
cause damage.
• Remove any tools (e.g. wrench) before switching
on the machine.
• Allow the machine to run for about 1 minute be-
fore starting the actual work – keeping the rotation
axis away from the body.
• Hold the machine only by the insulated gripping
surfaces to avoid electrical shock in case the
machine touches hidden wiring or its own power
cable.
• The sound generated when working is damag-
ing to your hearing. Wear hearing protection.
• To reduce the risk of electric shock, keep the
power cable away from the driving disc or from the
surface to be sanded. This minimizes the risk of
damage to the sheath of the cable or severing of
the cable by the abrasive and prevents the cable
from winding around your hand or arm.
• If the power cable is damaged, unplug it im-
mediately.
