Safety
2.1
General safety notes
The manuals for the system and parts thereof as well as the maintenance records and handover certificates must be kept
available near the system.
During installation, operation, maintenance or repair of the system, the regulations for the prevention of accidents, the perti-
nent DIN and VDE standards and directives, as well as the directives of the local power supply industry must be heeded.
NOTICE
Disconnect system from energy sources!
Ensure that the electrical components are disconnected from the electrical power supply during the work.
WARNING
Live parts
Heed the following points when working on electrical cables and connections.
The national regulations concerning electrical safety apply to all connections and installation work.
The system must be supplied through a residual current protection device (RCD) with residual current of not
more than 30mA.
The control unit and the float switch or level control are live and must not be opened.
It must be ensured that the electric cables as well as all other electrical system components are in a faultless condition. In
case of damage, the system may on no account be put into operation or must be stopped immediately.
WARNING
Danger due to overvoltage!
Operate the system only in buildings in which an overvoltage protection system (e.g. surge arrestor, type 2 per
VDE regulations) is installed. Interference voltage can seriously damage electrical components and lead to sys-
tem failure.
2.2
ATEX-related safety instructions
WARNING
The control unit itself is NOT intended for installation in an EX zone!
The control unit includes corresponding electrical equipment for intrinsically safe electric circuits.
WARNING
The EX marking identifies components and products that satisfy the ATEX requirement (ATEX Directive 2014/34/
EU).
WARNING
Use only ATEX system(s) and explosion-proof devices in potentially explosive zones. Separate safety measures
have to be taken for potentially explosive zones:
Comply with the national installation and erection regulations (e.g. IEC/EN 60079-14).
Comply with the national health and safety regulations.
Proof of the intrinsic safety must be provided in accordance with IEC/EN 60079-25.
Electric circuits with type of protection "Ex i", which have been operated with other types of protection may then
no longer be operated as electric circuits with type of protection "Ex i".
During installation and operation, note the information (characteristic values and rated operating conditions) on
type plates and data signs as well as the information signs on the device.
Before installing the device, ensure that it is undamaged.
Adjustments to the run-on time should only be carried by expert personnel. Dry running of the pumps (of the cut-
ting unit) is not permitted.
In ATEX areas the product must be installed and operated in accordance with the following standards:
EN 60079-14 Explosive atmospheres. Electrical installations design, selection and erection
EN 60079-17 Explosive atmospheres. Electrical installations inspection and maintenance
EN 60079-19 Explosive atmospheres. Equipment repair, overhaul and reclamation
