About this document
The planning and use of protective devices such as the L4000 system
also require specific technical skills that are not detailed in this
document.
When operating the L4000 system, the national, local and statutory
rules and regulations must be observed.
General information on accident prevention using opto-electronic
protective devices can be found in the brochure "Safe machinery with
opto-electronic protection".

Terms, symbols used
Recommendations are designed to give you some assistance in your
decision-making process with respect to a certain function or a
technical measure.
Refer to notes for special features of the device.
Indicates the status of the 7-segment display on the safety evaluation
device UE401:
Constant indication of characters, e.g. U
Flashing indication of characters, e.g. 8

Alternating indication of characters, e.g. L and 5
LED symbols describe the status of a diagnostics LED. Examples:
 Red
The red LED is illuminated constantly.
 Yellow The yellow LED is flashing.
 Green
The green LED is off.
Instructions for actions to be taken are shown by an arrow. Carefully
read and follow the instructions for action.
