– If the shifter handle is NOT positioned completely into
its mounting slot, DO NOT use the patient lift until
the shifter handle is properly seated and the legs of
the patient lift are locked in place.

Closing the Legs A — Pull the shifter handle away from the

patient lift and then to your left until it locks in the notch of
the bracket.
Opening the Legs B — Pull the shifter handle away from

the patient lift and then to your right.
Closing/Opening Electric Legs
The pendant is used to open or close the legs of the base for stability
when lifting a patient.
Refer to the safety information in 5.2 Closing/Opening Legs,
page 19 before performing this procedure.

The legs will stop moving when the button is released.
5.3 Raising/Lowering the Lift

The lift could tip and endanger the patient and assistants.
– Invacare does not recommend locking of the rear
casters of the patient lift when lifting an individual.
– Invacare does recommend that the rear casters be left
unlocked during lifting procedures to allow the patient
lift to stabilize itself when the patient is initially lifted
from a chair, bed or any stationary object.
