Recommended adhesive or mixed adhesive/activator light curing
Alternate adhesive or mixed adhesive/activator light curing
Inadequate polymerization due to insufficient curing
• Check compatibility of curing light
• Check curing cycle
• Check curing output before each procedure
• Completion: Place light cured restorative material, light cured resin cement, Calibra
Ceram Cement, or fresh amalgam over the cured* Prime&Bond elect Adhesive as per
restorative material manufacturer's directions. NOTE: When used as a cavity varnish,
Prime&Bond elect Adhesive is not an amalgam adhesive.
*See Technique Notes and Table above for curing options when Prime&Bond elect Adhesive is used with
Calibra Cement.
3.4.3 Special Instructions for Use with Calibra Ceram Cement:
Light Transmissible restorations, including most* in-office CAD-CAM milled restorations
• Final restoration must be light transmissible, 2.5mm thickness, with light curing of Calibra
Ceram Cement through the restoration after seating and excess cement cleanup.
• Select and apply Prime&Bond elect Adhesive. Light curing of applied Adhesive may be
accomplished before or after seating restoration with Calibra Ceram Cement.
• Following application and air drying (solvent evaporation), proceed immediately to
cementation, dual cure cleanup and Light Transmissible Visible light curing through the
restoration.
*Zirconium-based restorations are generally not light-transmissible. Cure adhesive on the preparation prior to
cementation.
3.4.4 Special Instructions for Use with Calibra Ceram Cement: Endodontic post cementation
• Post space must be total-etch/etch & rinse* treated with phosphoric acid (see Section 3.3.1
above).
• Select and apply Prime&Bond elect Adhesive. NOTE: A paper point pre-wet with the
adhesive mixture may aid in bringing the adhesive mixture down to the deepest portion of
the preparation. Clean, dry paper points may aid in thorough removal of solvent/excess
adhesive in post space. Light curing of applied Adhesive is optional, and may be omitted
before seating post with Calibra Ceram Cement.
• Following application and air drying (solvent evaporation), proceed immediately to
cementation, dual cure cleanup and stabilization.
*If total etching/etch & rinse of post space is not desired, follow Section 3.5 Adhesive mixed with Self Cure
Activator and mixed adhesive/activator curing.

Delayed or reduced adhesion due to technique or material incompatibility
• Use of Prime&Bond elect without Self Cure Activator for inlay, onlay, crown and
bridge retainer and endodontic post dual cure or self cure resin cementation is
only indicated when used in conjunction with Calibra Ceram Cement
• For inlay, onlay crown and bridge: adhesive layer must be light cured unless
restoration is light transmissible, 2.5mm thickness, cured through cemented
restoration
• For endodontic posts, post space must be pre-treated with total etch/etch & rinse
technique prior to adhesive application
3.5 Prime&Bond elect Adhesive mixed with Self Cure Activator
Dual Cured or Self Cured Procedures: Prime&Bond elect Adhesive with Self Cure Activator
mixture
• Direct, dual cure or self cure composite restorations and core build-ups.
• Indirect restorations; dual cured and self cured conventional resin cemented inlays, onlays,
crown and bridge retainers.
• Dual cured and self cured resin cemented endodontic post cementation*.
• Adhesive bonding of direct amalgam restoration.
*Technique Note: When using Calibra Ceram Cement for final endodontic post
cementation, operator may follow the application technique without Self Cure Activator
when total etch/etch & rinse is employed. Light curing of the applied adhesive is optional.
See Section 3.4.4 Special Instructions above.
• Clean preparation and treat restoration following Section 3.1 General procedures. Place
Dycal
®
Liner if needed following Section 3.2 General Procedures.
• For direct core build-up, place pin, post or matrix as needed.
• Tooth Conditioning/Dentin pretreatment: See table above for clinical recommendations.
Follow Section 3.3.1 Total-Etch/etch & rinse option, 3.3.2 Selective-Etch/etch & rinse option,
or 3.3.3 Self-Etch option for selected technique.
• Application of Prime&Bond elect Adhesive mixed with Self Cure Activator following selected
enamel and dentin pre-treatment option
• Place 1-2 drops of Prime&Bond elect Adhesive into a clean plastic mixing well. Replace
cap promptly.
• Place an equal number of drops of Self Cure Activator into the same mixing well. Replace
cap promptly. Mix contents for 1-2 seconds with a clean, unused brush tip.
• Using the disposable microbrush applicator tip supplied, immediately apply generous
amounts of mixed Adhesive/Activator to thoroughly wet all the tooth surfaces. Agitate the
applied adhesive/activator mixture for 20 seconds. NOTE: For endodontic post
cementation, a paper point pre-wet with the adhesive mixture may aid in bringing the
adhesive mixture down to the deepest portion of the preparation.
• Remove excess solvent by gently drying with clean, dry air from a dental syringe for at
least 5 seconds. Recommended technique is to begin drying/evaporation with the syringe
approximately 4-6 inches (10-15cm) away from the surface, gradually bringing the source
to within 0.5 inches (10mm) of the surface. Surface should have a uniform glossy
appearance. If not, repeat application and air dry. Surface should not show areas of
excessive adhesive thickness or pooling. Repeat air drying/evaporation outlined above if
necessary. NOTE: For endodontic post cementation, use of clean, dry paper points may
aid in thorough removal of solvent/excess adhesive in post space.
Inadequate polymerization due to insufficient solvent evaporation
• Follow evaporation instructions above
• Cure mixed Adhesive/Activator for 10 seconds.
Inadequate polymerization due to insufficient curing
• Check compatibility of curing light
• Check curing cycle
• Check curing output before each procedure
• Completion – dispense, mix and apply per manufacturer's directions:
• Dual cure or self cure direct composite restorative/core build-up material
• Dual cured resin cement for indirect restoration cementation
• Amalgam Bonding Base and Amalgam Bonding Catalyst for amalgam bonding
4. HYGIENE
Cross-contamination – Infection
• Do not reuse single use products. Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.
• Reprocess reusable products as described below.
4.1 Bottles
Cross-contamination – Infection
• The bottles cannot be reprocessed. Dispose of contaminated bottles in
accordance with local regulations
• To prevent bottles from exposure to spatter or spray of body fluids or
contaminated hands it is mandatory that the bottle is handled offside the dental
unit with clean/disinfected gloves.
• During treatment clinicians with patient contact should not handle the bottle
Handling with clean/disinfected gloves, the bottles may be disinfected with a water-based
hospital-level disinfection solution according to national/local regulations. Repeated
disinfection may damage label.
NOTE: Vigorous wiping can destroy the label. Wipe bottles gently.
