Important note:
If the dimensions measured by you are borderline to the next possible size, select the larger size. The
material is very easy to process, allowing you to effortlessly make corrections in the workshop. Primarily,
the back plate will be affected by this. You can shorten it at the top (cranially) by 3 cm and from the
bottom (sagittally) by 2 cm whenever you want.
Adaption of the BORT DorsoFX Back brace to the patient
Depending on the indication and prior agreement with the prescribing physician, the brace is put on when
standing or lying!
1
Put the basic support on the patient. It is closed circumferentially at waist height. A freely
positionable double-sided Velcro fastener is attached to the revers side of the basic support. It
connects the basic support to the back brace.
2
Put the basic support on the patient from the back to the front (dorsal-ventral). Pay attention to the
course of the reclination frames which must not press into the patient's armpit.
3
Firstly, close the Velcro fastener for the lower pelvis buckle. With this, you can hinder the brace
from sliding down. Thanks to the Velcro fasteners in the ventral area of the aid, the connection
between the basic support and the brace provides additional stability.
4
In the next step, close the chest clasp (reclination frame) Velcro fastener.
5
Close the upper pelvis buckle locking belt. Please check the correct fit of all brace fasteners and to
the basic support here again. If the brace has been placed for the first time, request the patient to
stand up (attention: observe the diagnosis).
6
Then check the correct fit of the brace. Using the wrench provided, it is possible to move and adapt
the chest and pelvis buckles' heights separately and steplessly. Depending on the patient's mobility,
this work step can also be taken whilst wearing the brace. In case of poor mobility, request the patient to
lie down and make the adjustments when the brace is not worn. Put the brace on the patient and convince
yourself again that the aid fits correctly.
7
As a final step, adapt the fasteners. For this, open the crocodile clasp at the end of each strap and
shorten the belt with a commercially available pair of scissors so that it terminates approx. 2 cm
before the end.
Tip: We recommend the patient to wear a long girdle shirt or T-shirt, which is as long as possible, under
the aid. Ensure here that no creases are formed under the girdle shirt as this may cause pressure sores.
Important note:
In case of fitting problems, technicians can always later adapt the DorsoFX Back brace later. The
pelvis and chest clasps as well as the back plate are manufactured from thermoplastically mouldable
