Fitting instructions
Instructions for use for the patient:
The brace should be worn directly over the clothes (a T-shirt). Pay attention to avoid creasing the clothes in
the vicinity of the brace as this can result in pressure sores.
1
Firstly, place the basic support included in the scope of delivery. The fastener for the basic support is
at the front, if correctly worn the support runs circumferentially at waist height.
2
The BORT DorsoFX Back brace individually adapted to your requirements by the orthopaedic
technician is placed from the back to the front. Ensure that the upper frames run directly below the
armpits and that the straps are not twisted.
Tip: Wear a long, close-fitting vest or T-shirt under the aid. This increases wearing comfort.
3
First, close the lower restraint in the hip area so that the brace is attached and can no longer slip.
4
Close the chest strap, ensure the correct fit again (frames under the armpits).
Tip: Pay attention to avoid wrinkles between the shirt and the brace in order to hinder pressure sores.
5
Close the Velcro fastener in the abdominal region and re-tighten the Velcro fastener beneath it in
the hip region. Please ensure that the basic support is free of wrinkles and fits well and can be
cleanly connected to the brace.
Tip: Ensure that both the basic support and the brace do not cause pressure in the inguinal region! If so,
put the aid on again.
Special notes:
Please have the fit and function of your BORT DorsoFX Back brace checked regularly by your orthopaedic
technician. This is particularly important when you start the therapy. The correct fitting of your back brace
is decisive for the course of therapy. It is particularly important that you practice putting the frame support
brace with your physician/physiotherapist/orthopaedic technician in order to gain the necessary routing
with your aid.
Wearing time:
The wearing time for your BORT DorsoFX Back brace should be determined within a treatment plan by
your treating physician, depending on the current indication and your personal situation. Please keep
to the daily minimum wearing time specified for you. This is imperative in order to support the healing
process. Specifically in case of fractures, a long minimum wearing time must be expected.
Information for the technician:
The BORT DorsoFX Back brace may only be adapted by trained staff!
Ideally, they care for the patient via interdisciplinary collaboration with the prescribing physician and
the treating physiotherapist. When caring for a patient with simultaneous in-patient hospital stay, it is
recommended to inform the nursing staff about the BORT DorsoFX Back brace.
