General information

CAUTION
Information on the maintenance of the pump can be found in the
enclosed installation and operating manual of the COBRA NC 400
B.
Please also refer to the following comments and maintenance instruc-
tions:
WARNING
After start-up, the vacuum pump has to be checked every day for
any unusual noise. In such cases , the pump must be stopped im-
mediately, see paragraph "Trouble shooting".
WARNING
The inside of the vacuum pump should be regularly checked for
any build-up of deposits. If deposits occur, they must be removed,
e.g. by flushing the pump. The build-up of deposits can provoke
friction and sparks within the pump which must imperatively be
avoided. Danger of explosion!
Inspection possibilities exist at the inlet and outlet of the vacuum
pump. The use of an endoscope for better inspection is recommen-
ded.
DANGER
Any servicing on the pump must only be carried out by specially
trained servicing staff under strict adherence to current and valid
safety regulations. In case of possible risk from dangerous substan-
ces of any kind, the end user of the pump must duly inform and
instruct maintenance staff before any work is carried out.
Before any maintenance work is carried out, any risk to the health
of maintenance staff that could come from drawn substances or
any other substance both within or outside the pump, must be ex-
cluded.
WARNING
The opening of the vacuum pump is only authorised after it has
been stopped and in the total absence of any explosive atmos-
phere.
WARNING
Bearing exchange - The bearings have to be exchanged every
25.000 operating hours, as a bearing breakdown would increase
the danger of explosion.
In accordance with the Instructions and Operating Manual of the
COBRA NC 400 B, the following servicing may be carried out:
l Checking and cleaning of the water cooling pipe-work
l Draining lubrication oils
l Draining or filling up the cooling liquid (recirculating cooling sys-
tem)
l Checking, cleaning or changing the air filter of the flushing device
l Cleaning the external parts such as the fan cover and cooler
Other work such as dismantling or rebuilding jobs as well as repair and
maintenance work may only be carried out by specialised BUSCH servi-
cing staff.
All cleaning has to be done with a damp cloth in order to avoid any
electrostatic charge and sparks discharge.
The electrical installation must be checked every 4'000 operating
hours with regard to its good operation and possible damage. This also
includes the vacuum pump controls and the equipotential.
