–    h old onto the rear handle and tip up the grass
catcher to empty it;
NOTE At times the audible warning may be
heard at the moment of engaging the cutting
means even when the grass catcher has been
emptied. This is due to grass-cuttings left on the
sensor of the micro-switch. To stop the signal,
remove the grass debris, disengage the cutting
means and then immediately engage it again.
5.4.7 Unblocking the collector channel
Cutting very tall or wet grass, particularly at ex-
cessively high speed, can clog up the collector
channel. If this happens proceed as follows:
–    s top forward movement immediately, disen-
gage the cutting means and stop the engine;
–    r emove the grass catcher;
–    r emove the grass cuttings; you can reach
them from the channel discharge opening.
WARNING!
This job must only be per-
formed with the engine turned off.
5.4.8 End of mowing
When you have finished mowing, disengage the
cutting means, reduce the engine speed and
ride the machine with the cutting-means assem-
bly in the highest position.

5.4.9 End of work

Stop the machine, put the accelerator lever in
the «SLOW» position and turn off the engine by
putting the ignition key into the «OFF» position.
When the engine has stopped, close the fuel
stopcock (1) (if fitted) (Fig. 5.9)
WARNING!
To avoid backfire, put the
accelerator in the «SLOW» position for 20
seconds before stopping the engine.
IMPORTANT To keep the battery charged,
do not leave the ignition key in the «ON» position
when the engine is not running.

5.4.10 Cleaning the machine

After each mowing session, clean the outside
of the machine, empty the grass catcher and
shake it to remove residual grass and earth.
Clean the plastic parts of the body with a damp
sponge using water and detergent, taking care
not to wet the engine, the electrical parts or the
electronic circuit board located under the dash-
board.
IMPORTANT Never use hose-nozzles or
harsh detergents for cleaning the body and en-
gine!
WARNING!
grass accumulate in the upper part of the
cutting-means assembly in order to maintain
maximum machine efficiency and safety
levels.
After each use, clean the cutting-means as-
sembly thoroughly to remove any grass remains
or debris.
WARNING!
keep people or animals away from the sur-
rounding area when cleaning the cutting-
means assembly.
a) When washing the inside of the cutting-
means assembly and the collector channel, the
machine must be on firm ground with:
–    t he grass catcher fitted;
–    t he operator seated;
–    t he cutting-means assembly in position «1»;
–    t he engine running;
–    t he transmission in neutral;
–    t he cutting means engaged.
Connect a water hose to its pipe fitting (1), and
run water through it. Engage the cutting means
and allow it to run idle for a few minutes (Fig.
5.10).
Now remove the grass catcher, empty and rinse
it, then place it where it can dry quickly.
b) To clean the upper part of the cutting-
means assembly:
–    l ower the cutting-means assembly completely
(position «1»);
–    b low a jet of compressed air to remove any
remains of grass (Fig. 5.11).
5.4.11
Storage and inactivity for long
periods
If you intend not to use the machine for a long
period (more than 1 month), disconnect the
battery cables and follow the instructions in the
engine instruction manual.
Empty the fuel tank by disconnecting the tube
(1) situated at the inlet of the fuel filter, and col-
lect the fuel in a suitable container (Fig. 5.12).
Reconnect the tube (1) making sure you position
the clamp properly.
Put the machine away in a dry, sheltered place
and preferably covered with a cloth (see  8.5).
