Launching and deployment
1. ensure the painter line (the red line
- approx. 9 m long) is attached to a
strong point on the vessel.
do nOt inflate the liferaft on deck.
Launch the container or the valise and
inflate the liferaft by giving a sharp
tug on the painter line.
2. secure the liferaft against the vessel
for boarding, if possible.
Jump into or swim towards the liferaft.
3. If possible keep the liferaft attached to
the vessel.
If it is necessary to get away from the
vessel cut the painter line by using
the knife attached to the upper buoyan-
cy tube near the entrance and use the
paddles to get away from the vessel.
4. If inverted inflation (liferaft floor
facing upwards) - turn the liferaft with
canopy facing the wind to allow the
wind to assist righting efforts.
Climb up the liferaft by the CO
cylinder, grasp the handle and lean
backwards to right the liferaft.
5. Keep watching and retrieve survivors
by using the rescue line and quoit.
6. Only if necessary (see number 3
above) deploy the sea anchor if the
painter line is cut and the liferaft is well
clear of the vessel. this will reduce
drift.
