DRIVE CONFIGURATION

s
WARNING
!
Serious or fatal electrical shock may result from contact with internal electrical components. DO NOT, under any circumstances, attempt to
modify DIP switch settings until power has been removed and 5 minutes have passed for internal voltages to discharge! Power must be
removed for DIP switch setting to take effect.
DO NOT POWER ON OR USE THE DRIVE WITH THE COVER REMOVED.
Motor/Pump Size (DIP SW1 - Positions 1–5)
Select the one (1) DIP switch from SW1 that corresponds with the motor/pump hp being used. The corresponding hp values are printed above the
SW1 diagram on the black shield. Selecting none or more than one switch will result in an Invalid Configuration fault.
Motor Voltage (DIP SW1 - Position 8)
NOTE: Drive input voltage and motor nameplate voltage MUST match.
The SubDrive Utility controller is compatible with 230 VAC (default) and 115 VAC motors. SW1:8 must be in the 230 V (down) position when using
a 230 VAC motor, or in the 115 V (up) position when using a 115 VAC motor. Selecting the incorrect motor voltage will result in improper system
operation or nuisance faults.
Pressure Sensor Selection (DIP SW2 - Position 1)
A traditional SubDrive pressure sensor is included with the controller, but an optional analog pressure transducer may be used. Ensure that the
controller is properly configured for the type of pressure sensor being used. SW2:1 must be in the PS (down) position when using the traditional
SubDrive pressure sensor. SW2:1 must be in the XDCR (up) position when using the optional analog pressure transducer.
System Response (DIP SW2 - Positions 2–4)
When using the optional analog pressure transducer, a system response must be selected. The available options are fast, medium, or slow.
To choose fast, SW2:2 must be in the FAST (up) position. To choose medium, SW2:3 must be in the MED (up) position. To choose slow, SW2:4
must be in the SLOW (up) position. Selecting more than one switch will result in an Invalid Configuration fault. Selecting no switch will
result in a default setting of SLOW.
Drawdown (DIP SW2 - Position 5)
When using the optional analog pressure transducer, the drawdown function may be enabled. The drawdown function sets a lower system cut-in
pressure to allow for more water to be drawn from the pressure tank before the controller turns on the pump. The default cut-in pressure is 5% of
transducer range below the system pressure setpoint. If SW2:5 is in the DD (up) position, the cut-in pressure is 20% of transducer range below the
system pressure setpoint. Refer to Table 5 for the various cut-in pressure drops for several popular transducer ranges.
NOTE: Pressure tank pre-charge should be adjusted to be less than the cut-in pressure when drawdown is enabled
to prevent emptying the pressure tank.
