6 - SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR PLASMA CUTTING SYSTEMS

6-1 GAS SUPPLY
In order to prevent fire hazards, the cutting gas may not be selected by means of a three-way valve.
The customer shall supply and install an isolating device on each and every source.
These devices shall be clearly identified and shall be of the locking type.
If the gas is being supplied by means of solenoid valves, a contact controlled by the emergency stop control shall be made available in the
electrical cabinet of the machine.
Each source of gas (cylinders, cylinder frames, evaporators etc.) shall have a regulator capable of supplying the required flow and pressure
values and a stop valve if the supply is through a pipe.
Never allow the pressure to exceed 10 bar.
6-2 CYLINDER CHANGE PROCEDURE
Every time you change cylinders, the following procedures need to be followed in order to avoid the risk of ignition:
IN ALL CASES
- Vent the cylinder by opening the valve slightly
- Make sure that the inlet connector is clean and free of oil or grease
- Fit the pressure relief valve on the cylinder and tighten the inlet connector nut moderately before
connecting the pressure relief valve.
- Make sure that the relief screw has been loosened before connecting the cylinder.
- Check the tightening of the connection before opening the cylinder valve.
- Open the valve slowly, but fully.
- Check if the connection is tight by applying soapy water on the location of the connection.
- Above all, never grease the organs in contact with oxygen
While using Noxal, roll the cylinder before connecting it in order to blend the mixture evenly.
WHEN THE TYPE OF GAS IS NOT CHANGED
First shut the cylinder valve.
Never undo a connection under pressure. Make the pressure drop first by pressing the gas test button on the control console till there is no
gas leaving the torch. Loosen the connection on the cylinder slowly to let out any residual pressure.
With an HPC (autonomous cycle 3) select the required gas before running the gas test.
Connect the new cylinder
Repeat a gas test for about 20 seconds so as to fill the pipe for the next cutting operation.
