Resetting the Speed Controller
With a reset, all of the settings adjusted when setting up the speed controller unit can be
returned to the original factory settings.
• Switch on the transmitter, but leave the gas/brake in the neutral position.
• Switch on the speed controller. The vehicle should now be ready for operation; no LED is
lit on the speed controller.
• Hold down the setup button for 3 seconds.
The green and red LEDs light up together and then go back out.
• All settings are now reset to the factory settings.
Commissioning of the Vehicle
Caution!
Place the model vehicle so that the drive wheels do not touch the ground or any
objects. Do not touch the drive mechanism and do not block it! Risk of injury!
If the neutral position of the speed controller was not yet programmed (or if the
trimming of the transmitter was changed in between), anything else may cause the
motor to start up when then speed controller is switched on!
• Switch on your transmitter. (Check battery state!) Put the trim controls in centre position. Put
the gas/braking lever in neutral position and let go of it.
• The switch on the speed controller must be set to the "OFF" position.
• Insert the battery pack into the vehicle and connect it to the speed controller.
Only connect a fully charged battery pack to the speed controller to ensure that the
undervoltage recognition will work properly. When the battery packs are only
partially charged, the number of cells might not be recognised properly. This results
in a total discharge of the battery packs!
Observe the section on programming the undervoltage recognition
• Now switch on the speed controller by putting the on/off switch in the ON position.
It is possible that the motor/drive will now start running. Then perform programming for the
full throttle and neutral positions of your transmitter; refer to section "Programming Full
Throttle and Neutral Position".
• If not done yet, perform the remaining programming steps for the speed controller; refer to
the section on "programming".
Operating Information
Please note:
When changing between forward and reverse drive, the throttle must be put in
neutral position for a short time.
If the throttle is moved directly from forwards to reverse, the brake of the speed
controller is activated (vehicle does NOT reverse!)
If the driving direction or the brake function respond opposite to the movement of
the throttle on the transmitter, activate the reverse function on the transmitter or
swap any two of the three motor cables.
If the speed controller/motor does not work or if moving the gas/braking lever does not cause
the motor to run, switch off the speed controller.
Check neutral position on the transmitter. Put the drive trim control in centre position and let
go of the gas/braking lever (or put it in centre position as well). Check if the transmitter is
switched on, if the correct crystals are used and if the batteries/rechargeable batteries in the
transmitter and the vehicle are charged.
The speed controller automatically switches off when it does not receive a valid signal from the
receiver (e.g. transmitter out of reach, transmitter switched off, etc).
LED status
• When the gas/braking lever at the transmitter is in its neutral position, no LEDs are lit at the
speed controller.
• The red LED is lit for forwards and reverse driving. When full throttle is reached for forwards
or reverse driving, the green LED will also light up.
End of Operation
• First switch off the speed controller (put switch in the "OFF" position).
• Disconnect the rechargeable battery from the speed controller.
• Now switch off the transmitter.
Programming Full Throttle and Neutral Positions
For programming the full throttle positions for forwards/reverse driving and the neutral
position, proceed as follows:
• Switch on the transmitter, but leave the gas/brake in the neutral position Put the trim controls
for driving into the centre position.
• Keep the setup button pressed and turn the speed controller on.
• When the red LED flashes, release the setup button at once.
If you do not release the setup button once the red LED flashes, programming mode
is activated. In this case, switch off the speed controller and proceed as described
above.
• Move the gas/brake lever at the transmitter into neutral position, if you have not already done
so.
• Shortly press the setup button. The green LED flashes once. Depending on the motor used,
a beep can be heard.
The sounds result because the brushless motor is activated for a moment.
Depending on the motor connected, these signal tones may be low or inaudible.
• Move the gas/brake lever to full throttle for forwards driving.
• Shortly press the setup button. The green LED flashes twice. Depending on the motor used,
two beeps can be heard.
• Move the gas/brake lever to full throttle for reverse driving.
• Shortly press the setup button. The green LED flashes three times. Depending on the motor
used, three beeps can be heard.
• Put the gas/brake back into neutral position.
• Now wait for at least 3 seconds so that the programming can be saved. The speed controller
is then ready for use.
