14. TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM
1. The motor shuts down
whilst working.
2. Even though the blade
control lever and safety
switch are engaged,
the cutting means
does not move.
3. The cutting means
overheats during
operation.
4. The cutting means
comes into contact with
a line or electric cable.
5. The cutting means
comes into contact
with a foreign body.
6. Excessive noise and/or
vibration is experienced
whilst working.
7. The machine emits
smoke during operation.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The connection cable is not correctly
inserted in the battery backpack.
Battery is not inserted correctly.
Low battery.
Machine damaged.
Battery is not inserted or is
inserted incorrectly.
Incorrect connection to the
battery backpack.
Low battery.
Battery backpack selector to "OFF".
The blade control lever is faulty
or the machine is damaged.
Insufficient blade lubrication.

Loose or damaged parts.
Hedge trimmer is damaged.
Check the correct connection of the cable to
the machine and to the battery backpack.
Make sure that the battery is correctly
inserted in the battery backpack (par. 7.2.3).
Check the charge status and
recharge the battery (par. 7.2.2), or, if
available, choose another battery.
Do not use the machine. Disconnect the
machine from the battery backpack and
contact an Authorised Service Centre.
Make sure that the battery is
inserted correctly (par. 7.2.3).
Check that the machine is correctly
connected to the battery backpack.
Check the battery status and
recharge if necessary (par. 7.2.2).
Check that the selector (Fig. 5.B)
is placed on one of the batteries
inside the battery backpack.
Do not use the machine. Stop the
machine immediately, disconnect it
from the battery backpack and contact
an Authorised Service Centre.
Turn off the machine, wait until the
cutting means is stationary, disconnect
the machine from the battery backpack
and lubricate the blades (par. 7.4).
DO NOT TOUCH THE BLADE AS IT
MAY BE LIVE AND BE EXTREMELY
DANGEROUS! Grasp the machine using
the insulated rear handgrip only and
position it at a safe distance from yourself.
Disconnect the current that powers
the severed line or mains cable and
disconnect the machine from the battery
backpack before freeing the blade teeth.
Stop the machine, disconnect it
from the battery backpack and:
inspect for damage;
check for and tighten any loose parts;
have any damaged parts replaced
or repaired with parts having
equivalent specifications.
Stop the machine, disconnect it
from the battery backpack and:
inspect for damage;
check for and tighten any loose parts;
have any damaged parts replaced
or repaired with parts having
equivalent specifications.
Do not use the hedge trimmer.
Immediately stop the machine, disconnect
it from the battery backpack and
contact an Authorised Service Centre.
