stabil
Intended purpose
The Lumbamed stabil is a lumbar
support with adjustable stabilisation
system. The product is exclusively to be
used for the orthotic fitting of the lower
back and only on intact skin.
Indications
• For the treatment of painful conditions
of the lumbar spine
• Lumbar sciatica (degenerative cause)
• Spondylosis without vertebral slipping
• Mild Spondylosis / Spondylolisthesis
• Disc protrusion
• Osteochondrosis, spondyloarthrosis
• Irritation of the ISG

Contraindications

None known to date
Mode of action
Controlled compression is applied
through the material and integral
stabilising rods; this supports the trunk
muscles, relieving strain on the lumbar
spine and easing pain.
(The optional back pad, which can be
ordered separately, reinforces this effect
by exerting additional pressure on the
paravertebral tissues and a massage
effect on the back muscles).
Wearing directions
Unless otherwise directed by your
doctor, do not wear the support for
more than 8 hours at a time. After
a break of approx. 2 hours it may
be refitted.

Fitting instructions

• If a pad has been prescribed for you
please first attach it to the inner fleece
strip as your orthopaedic technician
showed you. The wider surface always
faces upwards. (fig. 1)
• First secure the ends of the two
tension straps to the outer edge of the
fasteners. (fig. 2)
• Pass your left hand though the loop of
the lower fastener (no medi logo).
• Pass the support around your body
and pass your right hand through the
hand loop of the upper fastener (medi
label). (fig. 3+4)
• Now position the support on your back
so that the spine lies in the middle
between the stabilisation rods, or the
central recess in the back pad lies over
the spine. (fig. 5)
• Hold the lower fastener tightly in front
of your abdomen, pull the upper
fastener over it and attach it
provisionally to the narrow hook strip.
(fig. 6)
• After pulling your left hand back
through the loop you can use the hand
to fix the upper fastener flat against
the lower fastener. (fig. 7)
• Finally, pull the tension straps to
achieve the desired force and then
secure them, the left-hand strap first.
(fig. 8)
