USE OF EXTENSION LEADS
All extension cables must have an adequate size and section, relative to the machine's voltage.
Use an extension lead that complies with national safety regulations.
SEMI AUTOMATIC WELDING WITH STEEL / STAINLESS STEEL (MAG MODE) (FIG-2, A)
The AUTOPULSE can weld with 0.8/1.0/1.2 steel/stainless steel wire.
The machine is supplied with Ø0.8/1.0 rollers for steel or stainless steel. The indication on the roller is the wire diameter to be used (FIG-3, B).
Steel requires a specific gas (Ar+CO2). The proportion of CO2 may vary depending on the gas used. For stainless steel, use Argon/CO2 with 2% of
CO2. For specific gas requirements, seek advice from your gas distributor. The gas flow in steel is between 8 and 15 L/min, depending on the envi-
ronment. In 1.2 mm it can be adapted to use a carbon sheath to limit friction.
SEMI AUTOMATIC WELDING WITH ALUMINIUM (FIG-2, B)
This welding machine can weld with 0.8/1.0/1.2 aluminium wire. Aluminium requires a specific gas (pure Argon). For specific gas requirements, seek
advice from your gas distributor. The gas flow in aluminium is between 15 and 25 L/min, depending on the environment.
Difference between steel and aluminium welding :
- Drive rolls: use suitable rollers (U groove).
- The rollers pressure on the wire: put a minimum pressure in order not to flatten the wire.
- Capillary tube: do not use the capillary tube when welding with aluminium.
- Torch: use an aluminium torch. This aluminium torch is fitted with a teflon or carbon sheath in order to reduce frictions. DO NOT cut the sheath!!
This sheath guides the wire from the rollers.
- Contact tube: use the contact tube for aluminium which matches the wire diameter.
When using a blue or red torch liner (aluminium welding), it is recommended to use accessory 90950
(see picture 2B). This stainless steel guide tube improves the torch liner positioning and facilitates wire feeding.
SEMI AUTOMATIC WELDING WITH CUSI & CUAL (BRAZING MODE)
The AUTOPULSE can weld with 0,8/1/1,2 CuSi and CuAl wire.
In the same way as steel, the capillary tube must be installed and a torch with a steel sheath must be used. In brazing mode, use pure argon gas
(Ar). It is also possible to use a carbon sheath without capillary tube as for aluminium.
ASSEMBLY PRODCEDURE: REELS AND TORCHES (FIG 3)
• Remove the torch nozzle (fig F) and the contact tube (fig E). Open the cover of the machine.
Fig A:
• Place the reel on its support :
- Take into account the driving pin of the wire reel support. To fit a wire reel, tighten the wire reel support to the maximum. .
• Adjust the break (2) to avoid reel wire tangling when the welding stops. In general, do not tighten too much! This would cause an engine overhea-
ting.
Fig B :
• Put the rollers that fit the intended use of the machine. The supplied rollers are double groove rollers in steel (1 and 1.2). The indication on the
visible side of the roller is the diameter in use. For a 1.2 wire, use the 1.2 groove. For aluminium welding, use suitable rollers (U groove).
Fig C:
To adjust the pressure of the wire feeder, proceed as follows:
• Loosen the adjusting wheel (4) to the maximum and lower it, insert the wire, and then close the wire feeder without tightening.
• Start the motor by pressing the torch trigger. If there is gas, it is cut after 4 sec. (the generator also) and the wire feeder operates at a 4m/min
speed to ensure that the wire pass through the sheath
• Tighten the adjusting wheel while holding the trigger of the torch. When the wire begins to be driven, stop tightening
Nb: for the aluminium wire put a minimum pressure in order not to crush the wire.
• Pull out the wire of the torch about 5 cm, then put the appropriate contact tube (suitable for the wire used) at the end of the torch (fig. E), as well
as the nozzle (fig. F).
Comments:
• A torch liner that is too narrow may cause wire feeding problems and motor overheating.
• The torch connector must also be tight to prevent overheating.
• Make sure that neither the wire nor the reel are in contact with the machine, otherwise there is a danger of short circuit.
