III - ADVICE
◊ Connection and disconnection
Disconnect from the battery all electronic system during the charge (do not charge the battery when it is connected
on the car) (CA 360 in manual mode only).
◊ Starting
Do not start the vehicle with the charger connected to the battery. This will blow the fuse.
◊ Problems
A quick charge can cause problems:
- The fuse blows and stops the charge.
- The OK light indicator is on but without the battery being charged, it starts and stops regularly.
In this case restart the charger after selecting the slowest charging mode available.
◊ Thermal protection
The charger is fitted with a thermostat. If it gets too hot, the charger will stop working. Place the unit in a ventilated
room, wait until it cools down to turn the charger on (wait 10-20 minutes)
◊ Fuse
The fuse will protect the unit in the following instances:
- Polarity reversal or clamps in short-circuit.
- Starting the vehicle whilst the battery is connected to the charger.
- Charging current is in boost mode for too long or too high and above the nominal current in standard charge mode.
In case of a fuse break, disconnect the clamps from the battery, switch the unit off, change the fuse, set the charger to
the minimum charge output available and reconnect everything as instructed above.
Primary fuse
Secondary fuse
◊ Sulphated battery
Batterries without a regular maintenance can be sulphated but in some case they can be recovered. If a battery is
sulphated the needle of the ammeter stays on 0. In this case set the charger to a high current output and monitor the
charge every hour. If after 5 hours the needle hasn't moved the battery cannot be recovered.
